Located within the three counties showground at the foot of the malvern hills

  • Large and well-located site in the foothills of the Malvern Hills
  • Five minutes' drive from Great Malvern and 25 minutes from Worcester
  • A mile and a half from a golf club and brewery
Roll up, roll up – come and admire this splendid site set against a backdrop of the Malvern Hills… As its name suggests, Three Counties Showground Campsite stretches over three counties: Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. It's a couple of minutes' drive from the A449, making it as simple as can be to get out to the footpaths and bridleways that link up the many scenic parts of the Malvern Hills. What's happening on site will depend largely on when you come – the showground's a popular venue for food festivals, county fairs, flower shows and the like, so check to see if there's anything that takes your fancy while booking in. (Please note your pitch booking does not give you access to any events – these need to be booked separately at the showground's own website). This family-friendly spot has toilets (including accessible ones) and free wifi so you can stay in touch while away on hol, and four-legged companions can join you on stays here. Barbecues are allowed (off the ground, please, so it can stay in show-worthy shape). There are lots of other food options in the local area, like the supermarkets and pubs in Great Malvern (five minutes’ drive) or the food stalls that spring up when a show’s in town.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked We visited this site for just one night before Malvern Pride as I was performing there and it's a three hour drive from home. We were greeted by the campsite owners who seem to always be around which is great because they're lovely! I happened to have left my blue badge on the dashboard and the lady who greeted us saw this and sent her husband to show us to a pitch near the disabled shower block which was appreciated. The pitches have simple painted corners on the grass which is convenient for marking out where you're going to be pitching your tent or tourer.
The disabled toilet was adequate, the disabled shower was very good, temperature and power controls on a power shower along with fold down seat and plenty of room to transfer from your wheelchair and have it not get wet (the shower cubicle is plenty big enough for a turning circle and parking your chair out of the shower's reach).
There was a washing up area which was fine, although no bowls or draining board so either be prepared for this or bring your own bowl and a tea towel or two.

Disliked It was a large campground with a few festivals going on nearby so it was busy, there were a lot of children running round and some dogs off-lead (I don't mind this I love dogs but our dog is reactive- non aggressive just over excited- and wouldn't have coped well with dogs running past the tent so I'm really glad he wasn't with us.)

Liked We have been here a few times as it gives easy acces to the showground and local area. Nice flat pitches, easy access to the electric hookup and water was near enough to fill up our motorhome tank. Shower block has been refurbished since we last went and it was nice and clean.
It is basic with no frills but we like that about places. We don't want a clubhouse, just a quiet place to stay and relax.

Disliked We had some people right next to us who pitched their tents very close (they actually hit our motorhome with the poles whilst putting the tent up). We would have preferred they moved further away but they were not moved despite us reporting how close they were.

Local attractions

Small fry and grownups looking to splash around are five minutes' drive from a local leisure centre, where there's a wave machine, a full-size 25-metre pool and a waterslide. Other options on your doorstep include the well-regarded 18-hole Worcestershire Golf Club (five minutes' drive) and the Lakehouse Brewery, where you can pick up a box of local ales, book yourself onto a tour or stay for the whole day and brew your own batch. The marvels of the Malvern Hills – the highest bits of which are visible across the site – are also close at hand, with hikes up the Worcestershire Beacon (five minutes' drive then a half-hour walk) and the six-mile lap of the Eastnor Estate (15 minutes) being two popular picks. The architecturally inclined may well wish to make a pilgrimage to gorgeous Tewkesbury Abbey (20 minutes) or Worcester Cathedral (25 minutes) while they're here, or to the Brockhampton Estate (half an hour) for strolls around superb secular structures and 700 acres of woodland.
