  • Family site on the River Severn, 10 minutes’ drive from Great Malvern
  • Malvern Hills and Worcester 15 minutes’ drive; Tewkesbury 20 minutes
  • Playground and on-site fishing; clubhouse with carvery and Sky Sports
Fancy waking up to expansive views of the spectacular Malvern Hills? Then Riverside Caravan Park might just be the place for your next holiday. This peaceful site sits on the banks of the River Severn, 10 minutes’ drive from Great Malvern and 15 minutes from Worcester. The site is well equipped for families: children can let rip in the play area and climb trees, and there’s a dog park for the four-legged members of your clan. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can relax with a spot of riverside angling or by taking in the splendid views of the Worcestershire countryside. Sometimes animals can be spotted in the neighbouring area. The on-site clubhouse puts on a diverse range of events, from quiz nights to bingo and live entertainment; it also has a big screen tuned to Sky Sports, for the happiness of those who just can’t stay away from their Saturday footie. The clubhouse serves meals, too, including traditional Sunday roasts, or you can explore the local pubs: the nearest one is a five-minute drive away (or a 25-minute walk). On the other hand, if you prefer to fire up the barbecue, you’re more than welcome to do so here. Great Malvern is your best bet for provisions, with independent shops and a choice of supermarkets. Among other amenities here are heated toilet and shower blocks (including facilities for disabled guests), a launderette and a washing-up area.

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: Loved the views from top of hill. We set up tent at the bottom though due to it being flat.
The cleanliness of toilets/showers etc and clubhouse were immaculate. Very impressed. Always someone popping to clean.
Owners very welcoming despite us arriving so early!!
Park was great for the kids. No complaints from them.
Lovely and quiet. Would go back again.

Disliked: Cash only at clubhouse: trying to find a cashpoint that was in service nearby proved to be a faff.
Luckily I remembered by bank card!

Liked: Very nice campsite, lovely and clean everything you need. Staff couldn't be more helpful, lovely clean pitch,

Disliked: We were not keen on the club house much, food served in.there was very basic, looked like it was all out of a freezer. So didn't eat there.

Powered grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: - The staff were really friendly
- The views of Malvern hills were beautiful
- Individual taps by each electric pitch was lovely
- A lovely walk by the river
- Really enjoyed the radio playing in the toilets, my daughter and I danced as we brushed our teeth
- Toilets were clean most of the time
- The hanging flower baskets were pretty and a nice touch
- The red arrows flew past twice which was fun to watch - I don’t know if that’s a regular thing
- I’m glad we were at the top of the hill as I would not want to be pitched up by the play area
- Priory park in Malvern town had a brilliant play area for the kids

Disliked: - A fridge/freezer would be helpful for keeping food cool or freezing ice packs
- A family room would be nice as I saw a lady bathing her baby in the washing up sinks
- Two showers in the ladies was not enough
- Separate sinks for brushing teeth would be nice
- I don’t feel like I needed escorting to my pitch, a map would have been fine (save your fuel and time)
- Had to walk through a football match every time to get to the facilities
- Sanitary bins would be nice so you don’t see tampons left on the top of the toilet
- It would be nice to have a seating area by the river to sit and enjoy
- kids on scooters even though the rules stated scooters were not allowed
- Loud music during the day from other campers
- Loud talking/ laughing late at night

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: We loved everything about this campsite, one of the best ones we have been to in the camper van. It’s peaceful, has a park for the kids which is brilliant for us! The facilities are clean and the showers are hot which you don’t always get on campsites. There’s access to fish and we even got the paddleboard out. The clubhouse is good and offers cooked food and a good range of drinks.

Disliked: There isn’t anything we disliked about this campsite.

Local attractions

Head to Worcester, where you can gaze up at (and feel dwarfed by) the Gothic vaults of the centuries-old cathedral (home of the tomb of medieval King John); learn all about porcelain at the Museum of Royal Worcester; and check out the walled garden at Greyfriars House. If you’re itching for a hike, there are plenty of trails in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (15 minutes’ drive), including circular walks taking in a spectacular landscape of woodland, pastures and orchards. There are also self-guided themed walks focusing on wildlife, the famed water springs or local literary connections. Stretching on the banks of the River Avon, the historic town of Tewkesbury (20 minutes) is renowned for its 12th-century abbey, with its splendid stained-glass windows and ornate ceiling. The Tewkesbury Museum, in a half-timbered building, is home to a vast diorama (with a cast of over 2,000 characters) illustrating one of the key battles of the War of the Roses, the Battle of Tewkesbury, which took place on the outskirts of the town in 1471.
