  • Colourful site with donkeys, Highland cows, goats, pigs and peacocks
  • A five-minute drive from Atherstone and 10 from Twycross Zoo
  • Clubhouse with hammocks, woodburner, sofas and café on site
Tired of one-size-fits-all hols? Trundle along to Ettie’s Field, five minutes’ drive from the Warwickshire town of Atherstone, for colourful stays in a peaceful setting. The site has a little café, Flours by Ettie's, for teas and coffees. This is a site where garden-variety is absolutely not the name of the game, with highland cows, donkeys, Nubian goats, Kunekune pigs, chickens, turkeys and peacocks hanging around, and a laidback attitude prevailing all around. All family members are welcome, so feel free to bring canine chums along (there’s even a dog-walking field when they need some time off lead) – this is prime walking country, with a handful of pubs within 15 minutes’ stroll, and the trails of Hoar Park and Hartshill Hayes within 20 minutes’ drive.

Liked: Beautiful site. Loved the lighting, the wildflower areas and the funky covered seating area. Really peaceful. No noise at night. The kids loved seeing the animals and the toilets and showers were the best we’ve seen in a long time! You can see that lots of care and attention goes into this site. Highly recommend

Liked: A beautiful quiet tranquil setting, just what we wanted for some R & R time. Great level pitches all with electric and water. It was wonderful to just sit and relax in the sun. The facilities are great, lovely and clean. Always stocked with luxury loo roll 😊. Absolutely loved the animals very well looked after, the donkeys are very curious especially with our dog 😂.

Disliked: Could of been a bit more in the shop like essentials for campers ( I forgot to take my wine) 😂

Liked: We loved how unique Etties Field was. The staff were lovely, the animals were well kept, the facilities were great! We thoroughly enjoyed the music they had on over the weekend, it really added a special something to our stay. The Bohotique was to die for, I could have spent hours in there and blown my life savings. Overall a wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting again sometime!

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: A hassle free stay Easy to find and check-in was simple. Plot was generous in size and had water and electric close by. Plenty of toilets/ showers a short stroll away. The family one was lovely and warm (which the spiders found homely too). A cute setting at night with the fairly lights. The animals were a bonus too, especially the cheeky goat who knew how to escape!

Disliked: Nothing with the site. Take care if walking to the pub as no path so had to walk on the road. The public footpaths are overgrown

Local attractions

If the site’s coterie of alpacas, donkeys and peacocks isn’t enough to satisfy ardent zoologists, Ettie’s Field is well placed for even more encounters of the fluffy, feathered and four-footed kind. Guests can walk with the animals at Lucky Tails Alpaca Farm or get into a flap at Tropical Birdland, both 20 minutes’ drive from base, or have more exotic days closer to home at Twycross Zoo, 10 minutes away. There’s plenty hereabouts for active types too: fans of the Winter Olympics can go for gold in skiing, snowboarding or skating at Snowdome, and there are rope courses, zip wires, underground tunnels and barefoot trails (for a start) that energetic people can try at Conkers, all within half an hour of the site. History buffs might want to slow things down – luckily there’s plenty round here to ease them into the past, starting with the award-winning Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre 10 minutes away, and moving on to the ruins of Ashby-de-la-Zouch castle and the far less ruined Calke Abbey, Coombe Abbey, Kenilworth Castle (and Elizabethan Garden) and Warwick Castle within an hour. Come vrooming back to the present with a visit to the Triumph motorbike factory, then keep things high(ish) octane with family days less than an hour away at Drayton Manor theme park and Hatton Adventure World, and a little further afield at Alton Towers.
