  • Rural site with views of hills in the Cotswolds
  • Burford and Blenheim Palace within 20 minutes' drive
  • Walk to Shipton-under-Wychwood along a footpath
These are some pretty pitches indeed – the main area at Your Cotswold Adventure is tucked away in a grass field surrounded by mature plum trees and hedgerows, while the farm walk and wild area have gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and the Evenlode River valley. It’s all located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s the sort of rural setting that may well make you think you’re miles away from any sort of useful amenities, but in fact it’s a mere mile from Shipton-under-Wychwood and under two miles from Ascott-under-Wychwood, which combined have four pubs, shops and cafés. There are several excellent bakeries and farm shops scattered around nearby too (including the famed Diddly Squat farm shop 10 minutes' drive away), so you’ll not be short of treats – perhaps to take back to the lovely little secluded picnic spot mown into a field just next to the pitches) Foodie needs sorted, it’s time to think about ways to fill your days around here – perhaps walks on trails like the Oxfordshire Way and Wychwood Way, outings to popular Cotswold towns such as Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Norton or family days at the likes of the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Cotswold Farm Park. There are several bus services and local train stations linking local villages for those who’d like to travel around public transport. Back at base, there are modern facilities – the established field has a toilet and showers block. There's also a covered sink for washing up. Look out for the bird box matching the shower block design, which has resident blue tits.

Pitches 4, 5 and 6 - power optional cement/asphalt and grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Just returned from a 3 night stay at Your Cotswold Adventure. I stayed with my adult son for a late summer break in the beautiful Cotswolds. The site was meticulous providing a tranquil base for us to explore the surrounding area including Shipton, Chadlington, Chipping Norton and to visit Diddly Squat Farmshop and The Farmers Dog pub. The showers and toilet facilities were excellent, spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. The owner was very friendly and had created handy walkers maps and accessible directly from the site was a stunning picturesque walk through beautiful fields into the village. If you are looking to escape and explore a beautiful picturesque English village, this is it.

Disliked: Having to leave to return home :(

Liked: Clean, good facilities, quiet. Very pleasant and supportive owners. Nothing to fault - we had an excellent stay

Local attractions

If you’re here to soak up as much rural scenery as possible there are lots of ways to do that, including some gorgeous walking/cycling trails through the hills and stops at spots like the Rollright Stones (20 minutes’ drive) and Broadway Tower (35 minutes). Wychwood Wild Garden (five minutes) and Batsford Arboretum (half an hour) are top picks for nearby garden visits. The towns and villages around here are just as pretty as the landscape, of course, so it’s worth planning trips to the likes of Burford (10 minutes), Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) and Stow-on-the-Wold (20 minutes). Fabulous architecture and outdoor spaces are also on hand in places like Cornbury Park (five minutes) and Blenheim Palace (20 minutes). For family days out, you can join all sorts of events at FarmEd (five minutes), meet exotic beasts at Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (15 minutes) and Crocodiles of the World (15 minutes) or hang out with cute farmyard animals at Cotswold Farm Park (half an hour).
