  • Stylish and comfy Oxfordshire cabins about a mile from Cropredy
  • Broughton Castle and British Motor Museum within 20 minutes' drive
  • Dog-friendly site with accessible facilities and private hot tubs
The 'wild' element of Oxfordshire site Sleep Wild refers to the fabulous rural surroundings and not to the cabins themselves, which are in fact very stylish and comfortable. And it's that mix of a gorgeous setting and wonderfully cosy accommodation that really makes this an excellent place to stay. There are just a couple of cabins at this location, part of the Cropredy Lawn about 10 minutes' drive north of Banbury. Each one is dog friendly and surrounded by a wildflower meadow that’ll make you feel like you’ve travelled far, far into the countryside. It’s the kind of peaceful setting where you'll look out over horses grazing in the paddock next door and look up to see skylarks flitting overhead… How you choose to make the most of this is up to you. Grass tracks run through the farm for a gentle stroll, linking up to a public footpath leading to Cropredy village (home to a shop and a pub). From the village you can pick up more footpaths including the Oxford Canal towpath. If all that sounds a bit too active, opt to spend time on site – an appealing idea indeed when you hear that each cabin has its own hot tub, plus plenty of outdoor space for cooking up a barbecue meal, relaxing by the firepit or just looking out for wildlife (hares, deer and birds can often be spotted). Each pod has been cleverly designed to house an ensuite bathroom and a mini kitchen (with cooker, fridge, kettle and toaster) as well as space to sleep and to relax on the sofa. Free-range farm eggs, homemade cakes and breakfast or barbecue hampers are all available to order on site for a true taste of the farm.

Local attractions

Working up an appetite for your barbecue back at base should be easy around here, as Cropredy has plenty of options for walks, including the Oxford Canal towpath and long-distance trails like the Battlefields Trail and Jurassic Way. There's also a golf course 10 minutes' drive away if that’s your preferred form of exercise. Or perhaps you'd prefer a stroll around a country estate? Broughton Castle (15 minutes' drive), Upton House and Gardens (15 minutes) and Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) are some of the top choices nearby, or you could head to the stunning Blenheim Palace (40 minutes) if you don't mind a slightly longer drive. A couple of other popular outings nearby are the chance to admire vintage vehicles at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes) and to experience gin tastings or make your own spirit at Castle Gin School (10 minutes).
