Lakeside primitive grass and earth campsite
Liked: This place is fantastic if you’re after a back to basics style of camping. Fantastic clean pitches with sooooo much space. It’s as close to wild camping as it gets!
Disliked: The toilet block is by the entrance which is a very long walk. But this was no real problem for us

Not ideal for anyone but hippies and fishermen.

Liked: Absolutely Nothing to like. Looked nothing like the photos.. it was like they just mowed everywhere and took photos to add to site then let it all go to pot! More like a derelict overgrown Marsh land! Dangerous pot holes everywhere!!
Disliked: Arrived at 7pm we left after work... No manager on site. No lights on site apart from the entrance. Found it difficult to find the site entrance as google takes you to the 3rd pond not the entrance. After 20 mibs trying to find in 28°c heat we Had to call Owner to find access, Owner was helpful and sent location via maps and texts. HE WAS NOT PRESENT TO MEET AND GREET!! Drove on with great difficulty. Dirt path was very uneven and bumpy.. It nearly took the exhaust off the van!! Extremely over grown. TOOK US NEARLY 2HRS TO FIND A SEMI SUTABLE PLOT OF LAND AND PUT THE TENT UP!!!! NO LIGHTS SO USING TORCHES AT 8.07PM. Absolutely No preset pitches only on 1st pond these were reserved for fishermen. Piss take... RECIVED A TEXT TO FORBID US FROM SETTING UP AT 1ST POND PITCHES!! WTF!!! Hang on.... But these were the wonderful pitches advertised at £30 a night. Pictured.. Lured us in and told NO NOT ALLOWED!!!! Same price as the diabolical wild pitches at £30!! Not even worth £5! WILD and I mean WILD pitches u set up yourself in thorns thistles and long grass... poked holes in our built in ground sheet so tent is ruined!!!! Only 2 porta loos for a huge site..NO A TOILET BLOCK AS STATED IN LIST OF FEATURES. For 24 acres of land only 2 porta loos without sink and no loo roll!!!! No water tap!! No local Shop as stated... Went to fetch dinner from closest chippy which us next to the closest shop (1 hr and 7 mins walk away) forced to take car (11 minutes drive) to find out it closed at 8.30pm on a Friday night! What chippy Closes b4 9pm????? We were 6 mins late. No food !! Not happy about miss advertised features. We got back to camp...packed up and left at 9.30pm. I CALLED OWNER AND TOLD HOM WE LEFT. GOT REFUND OF £51 ONLY.. NO DEPOSIT REFUND OF £9 STAY AWAY IF U WANT AMY KIND IF DECDNT GET AWAY. NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN ITS DANGEROUS AND WATER IS DEEP AND NOT AT ALL CHILD FRIENDLY!! Only visit if u want absolutely nothing near by.. and of you like to be bitten to death in only 2.5 hours on site!!

Liked: Tranquility, was left to own devices. Good distance between pitches. Seemingly remote but not far from amenities.
Disliked: I was absolutely hounded by wasps in the morning. Not the owners fault of course.

Liked: We love the freedom of the whole place peaceful whenever we stay, the open lake, waking up to the sound of flocking geese above, beautiful walks around the lake
Disliked: Don’t dislike anything, would just advise ground sheet base as the pitch we stayed at had big weed cut back the stems where hard and strong that it poked holes through tent base.

Liked: Stayed there for a 2nd weekend inna different pitch but still the same peace and tranquility was even nice in the rain although the fishing spot wasnt as good the kids felt like theyd gone to the beach. We purchased a few logg packs too this time saved the hassle of wood collecting
Disliked: The kids thought the fire wood was was one of the best parts of the last trip ( go figure ) but overall was what it said on the add wild
