Campervan setup

  • Simple pitches at a Lincolnshire farm five minutes’ drive from Wragby
  • A 10-minute walk from a nature reserve and swimming/watersports lake
  • Woodland views; 15 minutes’ drive from the Lincolnshire Wolds
A little walk in the Lincolnshire Wolds, followed by an open-water swim or paddleboarding at neighbouring Ocean Walker Academy (addtional charge for the latter two)? If that sounds like a pretty fine way to spend a day, plot a course to Forest View Camping, in the Lincolnshire countryside five minutes’ drive from Wragby and 20 minutes from Market Rasen. The views and vibe here are mighty peaceful, as the site looks out over farmland and the next-door woodland (part of the Bardney Limewoods National Nature Reserve). The surrounding area, though, is packed with things to do: for starters, a 10-minute walk will get you to Chambers Farm Woods for woodland walks, picnic spots and a butterfly garden. Other days out? Well, it’ll take you about 15 minutes in the car to get to the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a stroll or to meet the residents of the Wolds Wildlife Park. The centre of Lincoln is about 25 minutes away for city wanders, and Skegness 45 minutes for a bit of beach time. Back at base, it’s a fairly simple setup that’s been designed to integrate well with its setting on a family-run working farm. Pitches are flat and well maintained, and have access to modern toilet and shower facilities.

Liked: Lovely quiet site with fantastic toilet, shower and washing up facilities. Not much to do with children in the immediate vicinity but not too far away from things if driving. Friendly owner and a very clean environment.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Stayedin our Tentbox and thought the site was a good find. We didn't have an electric pitch so could pretty much take up as much space as we wanted. Bar shack was in operation which sold all different drinks and lollies Toilets were really clean as were the showers (which did run hot then cold a bit). Hired a firepit for £15 which was great and the dropped it off at the pitch whilst we went for a walk. Really easy to find and access from Lincoln (It was only a 20 min drive but felt like we were in another county)

Disliked: The wasps.... but we were parked close to the hedges and had sweet things laying about. It did make packing away a bit of a struggle and we had to abandon our rubbish bag as there were just too many for us to get to. I did tell the owner that it was up there still and he said he'd grab it when he picked up the firepit and logs we didn't use. There wasn't loads to do so if you have smaller children you'd need to take things as no park etc.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Lovely site, very clean, seemed to got the extra mile with offer of fire pits to rent over night/ small bar. Loved the girls coming round with home baked goods! Toilets were really good and clean, felt like you were in an actual bathroom rather than campsite toilets! Plenty of toilet roll generally. Washing up facilities were good.

Disliked: Maybe one extra shower needed for busy times. No information pre check in so just guessed that we were okay to park up and get pitching.
