FHU gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: The lakes

Disliked: The 'entertainment' went on until late in the evening, the Spar shop didn't sell any actual food (e.g. vegetables) just packet meals, tins of beans and sugar based snacks, the shower and toilet block was filthy and very outdated, there was no sense that you were in the countryside, just a giant car park with a shope for people who don't eat proper food and a bar for people to waste their time. I would also add that the staff were particularly unwelcoming and unless you want to drive somewhere, there isn't a lot to do in the area.

Camping pod

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay. The campsite was full with all the amenities needed, the whole site was very clean and well maintained. The staff were very welcoming and delivered a great service with a smile. We stayed in a pod, the pod was bigger than excepted which was great. There was room for our queen size blow up bed, small table and chair. Also all our belongings and more. We also had electric and there was a heater too. The toiket/shower block was very clean and plenty of hot water. We had a great stay and planning to book again.

Powered grass tent or travel trailer campsite

Liked: The closeness of the toilets and amenities.

Disliked: Being so close to the road with a newborn is not ideal as traffic was loud and heard into the early hours of the morning. We were all laced right next to a group of young adults who were up until 3am drinking. Less than ideal.

Local attractions

Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea, Ingoldmells, Skegness and other Lincolnshire lovelies are all close by for the coastal connoisseurs; and market towns, villages and the Lincolnshire Wolds easy to get to inland. At Mablethorpe, many visitors wander through the dunes to Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary, home of many a brightly-coloured bird, birds of prey, primates, reptiles and roguish-looking meerkats as well as the seals. Kids and big kids will probably also like Mablethorpe's miniature railway, boating lake and funfair; fans of the latter should add in Ingoldmells, home of Fantasy Island theme park. This is also a cracking area for nature: more seals can be seen at the popular Donna Nook National Nature Reserve down the coast between Grainthorpe Haven and Saltfleet, and a huge nature reserve teeming with squawking seabirds is at Gibraltar Point near Skegness. Also nearby, bob about in boats or cast off again at the waters of the Lincolnshire Wolds, alongside many miles of trails and bridleways to walk, cycle or horse ride, or bob around Lincolnshire's market towns: recommended options include Alford, Louth and Lincoln.
