Liked: Quite and clean, fair size pitch right next to shower block and toilets, water and waste disposal. Grass pitch. Staff very helpful and polite. Likes ideal for kiddies to use a rod catch a small roach or 2.

Disliked: Pitch uneven, ground very soft due to recent weather, which can not be helped but a warning would off helped. Fishing lakes not very well kept and due to recent mink attack not many fish, not told until arrived, which was disappointing as one of the reasons why we went.Lack of poo bins around site for dog, only two at dog walk, which was a three minute walk away and not off lead and just a stroll along overgrown river bank. Push button showers, which switch off very quickly. These are minor and didn't completing our stay as we did enjoy the relaxing feel of the place.

Liked: Great welcome from the team, site and local information provided on arrival. Lovely quiet and secure site within easy walking distance of a pub and Woodside Wildlife Park (well worth a visit). Bus stop nearby for easy trip out to Lincoln. Facilities were clean and heated well enough to feel cosy even at -6. Would definitely stay again, thank you.

Local attractions

It's a hop, skip and a jump from the site to Woodside Wildlife Park (five minutes' drive), a local zoo with live feeding demonstrations where you can get up close and personal with an array of animals. More family-friendly animal antics are on hand at similarly nearby Rand Farm Park too (10 minutes), where there is also indoor and outdoor play for younger visitors. Look to Lincoln (15 minutes) for days out with grownups and older kids: it's got a castle, a cathedral, an ancient copy of the Magna Carta and excellent opportunities for shopping, dining and exploring old cobbled streets. If you liked being on your feet in Lincoln, head to the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes) for more rambling, this time in the countryside, and take on some of the 76-mile Lincolnshire Wolds Way. Hearing the call of the coast? It's just under an hour to seaside towns like Cleethorpes, Skegness with its pier and Mablethorpe with its amusements.
