Liked: Quiet location with generous sized pitches. Lovely hosts, good facilities and fabulous alpacas! Also has a pub on site (closed Wednesdays).

Disliked: The fact we only stayed here for two days!

Liked: Loved the peace and tranquility this well maintained site had to offer. Immaculate grounds, good pitches and clean utility block. Enjoyed feeding the alpacas on our last morning which gave us a chance to chat with the owner. Bus stop and train station within walking distance and fresh free range eggs available from across the road.

Disliked: Minor point: shower temperature seems to fluctuate when some else is using the water.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: What’s not to like. Small peaceful well maintained site. Brilliant hosts who make you feel more like family than guests and a plethora of beautiful alpacas that you can help feed at their feeding time. We would highly recommend this site to everyone over 18 (adult only site) and will definitely be visiting again in the future

Disliked: We could find absolutely nothing to dislike about this site

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Absolutely everything. Our storage site were having the power turned off for work to be done, which meant that we had to have the caravan out early. After telephoning Julie, she said that we could come on site early. We were given the choice of a couple of hardstanding pitches as it had rained beforehand. We went to the Alpaca Arms on site that evening, really welcoming and they allow dogs in too. Although the weather wasn't great throughout the week we had a lovely relaxing time and even fed the Alpacas one morning. Can't wait to return, in fact we've already booked a few visits

Liked: Lovely quiet site, nice level pitches. Loved seeing the Alpacas! The owners are lovely and we're very welcoming. Super dog friendly. Nice clean toilets and shower. Loved the onsite bar, very handy and lovely atmosphere. Sadly we were too late back for the pies, maybe next time. Area around has loads of walks. We will be back again.

Liked: A lovely quiet site which was really well kept. The toilet and shower facilities were really spacious. The shower was £1 for 7 minutes which was plenty of time and there were toiletries available to use. It was lovely to be able to feed the alpacas and find out all about them. The pub was brand new and had lots of drinks to choose from. There was a great Chinese takeaway only 5 minutes walk away.

Disliked: Not the prettiest village for a walk round.

Local attractions

Without any kids in tow, having hols full of grownup-sanctioned adventure is a cinch: head towards Grimsby (half an hour's drive) for tours and tastings at Rutlands Arms Old Mill Brewery and a stop at the taproom of the town’s newest brewery, Docks Beers. Otherwise, venture towards Hull for sedate turns around pleasant gardens, stately manors, museums galore and a must-do stop at The Deep aquarium. Anyone who’s after something more high-adrenaline and doesn’t mind a slightly longer drive should make the hour and 20-minute journey down the coast to Ingoldmells for a day at Fantasy Island theme park, or continue on to Skeggy for stock car and banger racing at Skegness Raceway. For days in the great wide open, there’s plenty of choice: the Lincolnshire Wolds are about half an hour away for hiking, biking, riding and geocaching, or a coastal detour to Cleethorpes and its seaside stretch is a top pick for beach and sandcastle days. A trip to Spurn National Nature Reserve shouldn’t be spurned either, even if it’s over an hour away – take a stroll along the sand island for slow-paced explores or sign up for a safari or wildlife-spotting boat trip to see it at its best.
