  • Scenic, south-facing farm site overlooking the river Avon
  • A 10-minute drive from Rugby or 30 minutes from Royal Leamington Spa
  • Green site in a quiet village with an on-site farm shop and restaurant
A spacious, south-facing plot by the scenic river Avon? Look no further than Manor Farm, a friendly and laidback site with a convenient location a few minutes' drive from the A5, M1 and M6. Once you've set up shop on one of the site's generously sized pitches, get ready for stays infused with the sounds and sights of working farm life. Fruit, veg, sheep, cattle and pigs live and grow in the fields surrounding the pitching area, meaning there are plenty of locally sourced flavours to try out at the on-site farm shop: head here to order breakfast or dinner hampers, hire firepits and buy logs to build your blaze with. Manor Farm also has an award-winning restaurant for those after a change from self-catered meals, with breakfasts, lunches and snacks available throughout the week plus a top-rated traditional roast on Sundays. For a relaxed evening out, it's less than five minutes' walk to Catthorpe's local pub. You may, of course, feel like heading further afield for excursions to bigger towns like Rugby (10 minutes' drive), Royal Leamington Spa (30 minutes) or Coventry (30 minutes), where restaurants, bars, theatres and cinemas all await. And that's the beauty of this place – back at base you can soak up gorgeous country views, but many of the Midlands' best attractions are within easy reach when it's time for a change of scene. On top of all that are some rather smart facilities on site: a couple of heated bathroom pods each have a shower, toilet and basin, and the ladies has a hairdryer to save you trotting around with wet hair. There's also an outdoor washing-up sink.

Local attractions

The staff at this family-run site certainly know their stuff when it comes to getting out and about. One of their recommendations is Rugby School and Museum (10 minutes'), where many believe the self-same game was invented back in the 19th century. They also point out how partial many guests are to spending time at Draycote Water (25 minutes), a nearby reservoir great for fishing, sailing and hiking. Other well-liked waterside spots include Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal (30 minutes), where a pub, boating museum and well-marked trails may prove popular. If you've headed off on holiday for a special occasion, you could also hire a narrowboat here and spend your celebratory day serenely sailing through the green Midlands countryside. For something a bit more high-adrenaline, you could spring to attention at Armourgeddon (20 minutes), where you and your crew can drive tanks in epic paintball battles. For those a bit young for such things there's also Drayton Manor Theme Park (40 minutes) with its wide range of age-appropriate rides.
