Liked: Amazing views, clean comfortable barn to shower and use the toilets.

Disliked: I'm new to this sort of thing, I paid £40 to park my campercar as didn't have an option. Either caravans/motorhomes or tents. It's a thing now so catch up ...

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Chose here as we needed somewhere close to try out our new tent incase anything was wrong. Quite windy on arrival but gorgeous views. We eneded up being the only people there and it was so relaxing. The owner was lovely and had a few chats with us. The seating area in the barn was an added bonus. The toilets and showers were clean and there was a fridge/freezer in the barn so you could keep your food and drinks cold/frozen if needed. It is on a quiet road and you hear a car going by every now and again and teh sound of the sheep was nice. Felt really close to nature and will definitely be back. I also love the fact that it is aduly only so no hildren screaming and running around your tent.

Disliked: The wind and rain in the night

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The owner couldn’t do more for you, very friendly and chatty. I had 1 issue she was straight over to help to fix it (which she did). I had made a mistake with the booking and she still allowed us on site. Toilets and showers are clean, little communal area (inside). It’s a really personal touch site! Views are amazing! Amazing Helen!

Liked: The views are beautiful, site is level and there are basic facilities. It was a nice touch to see an area to meet friends and make a cuppa. Helen was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: We thought it was a bit pricey. The nettles near the EHU, should be cleared.

Local attractions

Starting in the village of Mowsley, have a wander on foot around the Laughton Hills or do some exploring on horseback from the local riding stables (both five minutes’ drive). For a gentle stroll, follow the Grand Union Canal towpath out of the village – it’s an easy walk to Foxton Locks (10 minutes), where you can watch barges ascend a flight of 10 locks, hire a boat to chug along the canal yourself, or have a nose around Foxton Canal Museum (15 minutes). Exercise completed for the day? Foxton Locks Inn is the spot for a virtuous post-walk pint and a bite to eat. If you have the urge to spend some of your hard-earned cash, Market Harborough (15 minutes’ drive) is packed with antiques emporiums and unusual shops, or try Lutterworth (20 minutes) for its historic Thursday market and stick around for a tour of elegant 17th-century Stanford Hall (20 minutes, check opening dates before you visit).
