Liked: Great place to go on a warm weekend for a short getaway.

Woodpecker lodge (lake view)

Liked: Lovely little lodge Very modern Clean Comfy bed

Disliked: Sold as a fishing retreat when all lakes are match lakes. Fisherman around the lodge all day. No privacy whilst sitting on the decking. No sun parasol and no shade No oven/ hob but a dishwasher 🤦🏻‍♀️ No little dining area inside. Futon chair only big enough for 1 person to sit on so no comfy sitting area only the bed Blinds dont cover the full windows or doors Had to email for pass codes to get in as no information sent to me prior as promised Nothing to explore in local area

Don’t want to be fishing all day, every day? Stay close to the water when you see an old-fashioned boat lift in action in the open-air Foxton Canal Museum (15 minutes’ drive), where you can take traditional barge trips along the Grand Union Canal or walk up the longest, steepest lock flight in the UK, built in 1810 by stellar engineer Benjamin Bevan. There’s more history to be found in Classic British Jets Museum (five minutes) or the King Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester (half an hour), where there are interactive exhibits detailing the discovery of the Plantagenet king’s unmarked grave in a car park in 2012. For more on Richard’s story, pop into the half-timbered Guildhall Museum, adorned with fine stained-glass and ornate wooden wall panels. If you want to get your heart racing, try steering military vehicles over a former World War II bombing range at Armourgeddon Tank Driving (10 minutes), where there's also paintballing, or whizz around a few laps at Sutton Circuit Outdoor Go-Karting (20 minutes). An adventure golf course in Blaby (15 minutes), Wistow Maze (10 minutes) or a golf course in Lutterworth (15 minutes) are also nearby. If gentle pursuits are the name of the day, take the binoculars to Saddington Reservoir (five minutes) and keep your eyes open for egrets, herons and grebes as you meander around the water’s edge. Bradgate Park (45 minutes) is another fab spot, as is Rutland Water (45 minutes). Shearsby Bath (under five minutes) is a local wedding and events venue.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
The park will send you further check-in information 1 day(s) before your arrival.
There is no reception at this park. Please check-in at the self check-in instead.

General

A state-issued fishing license is required (you'll need to apply for this beforehand).
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Public areas are non-smoking.
The fishing lakes are stocked with Carp and most freshwater species.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
This campground/park does have a catch-and-return fishing policy in place.
