  • Rural holiday park with lakeside pitches in Herefordshire countryside
  • A 20-minute drive to Berrington Hall, and 25 minutes to Ludlow
  • Nine-hole golf course, fishing and crown bowling; restaurant and bar
Set in 80 acres of mature parkland by the side of its namesake lake, Herefordshire’s Pearl Lake Leisure Park is five minutes’ drive from Powys, gateway to mid-Wales, while Shropshire’s historic town of Ludlow is 25 minutes by car. This lovely holiday park is just the spot for anyone wanting relaxation in spades, but also some gentle pastimes like fishing and crown bowling – as well as a challenging nine-hole golf course – which are luckily all available on site. Kids don’t miss out either, with a play area, five-a-side football pitch and a large recreation field. Other fun happenings include zipwires and climbing frames and of course, there are lots of woodland areas to explore while playing hide and seek among the trees. And life couldn’t be easier on site. Fill up on goodies for the barbecue at shops in Shobdon, only five minutes’ walk away. Don’t fancy cooking? Simply get yourself down to the Lakeside Bar and Bistro for a quiet drink on the sun-trap terrace, Sunday lunch or a game of pool. Alongside a B road, there will be some road noise on all pitches, but Pearl Lake Leisure Park is very much certain the quality facilities on offer will make up for it.

Liked: The team were excellent, friendly, helpful and very engaged. The site and facilities were clean, well presented and the team clearly cared that we enjoyed our stay. One last big ‘shout out’ to young Jack, who came over to congratulate me on the fish I caught and then took a picture so I could gloat to my mate!

Disliked: The Leisure Bar & Bistro had a good atmosphere and was reasonably priced but our food took an hour from point of order and some of it was under cooked and missing items. The pizza’s however, were excellent, and a lady who was very concerned that our meal was not up to their normal standards, issued a partial refund, another example of their ‘World Class’ approach to customer service we thought, so thank you!

Liked: The Park is absolutely beautiful..well kept and a lovely walk takes you around the lake and woodlands. The bar and restaurant was the friendliest place we've experienced, we were made so welcome by everyone we met. The meals were good portions and very well priced. The pitch we stayed on was fully serviced hard standing so that was great. It had everything you could want

Disliked: Time limit for the shower is 8 minutes. For me that wasn't long enough, but was able to use shower in our motorhome. The Road noise was horrendous, not the fault of the site I must say...but the roads are in such bad condition that whenever a large vehicle went along it was so loud. Tractors were very busy harvesting but went on until 11.30 pm...and started again at 5.30 am....that was the only down side....highways need to repair the roads

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback! We really appreciate it and we're glad you liked the park, and bar and bistro! The Lakeside is a gem for us to have on park and we are very happy that we got to share it with you. Thank you for your comments regarding the shower time limit. We will pass this feedback along to the correct members of our team. We're gutted that the road noise spoiled your stay with us. We do say that there's a B road running through the village past the touring area and we do try to make all our guests aware of this. However, there are certain times of the year when the road is busier than usual with agricultural traffic - farmers in the area support lots of well known brands. We've also spoken to the local authority about the state of the road. We hope that despite this we will see you again in the future.

Liked: The site was immaculate

Disliked: The touring section was right next to the main road and was incredibly loud from 0530 to past 2300 every day. The condition of the road is very poor and the increase in noise was tractors and trailers bouncing through the potholes and massive lorry’s doing the same. The other issue happened on the Sunday, the site advertised their restaurant so we decided to go there for Sunday lunch, it opened at 1200 so we walked down and sat outside because it didn’t look like it was open. After 10 mins a young lady came out to clear glasses off the outside tables and I asked her what time the restaurant opened and was told it wasn’t opening today because of a private function. There was no information saying it was closed and the nearest village was 10 mins walk away, not much use for us in a Motorhome and me in a wheelchair. We won’t be returning

Disliked: Too Close to the road. Lots of tractors with trailers harvesting potatoes until late at night. A bit scary at times, asked to move plots the next night, which was much better

Liked: Cannot fault the site itself, staff friendly, but we left the site earlier than we booked for.

Disliked: The tourer pitches are approx 10 ft from the road on one side and the opposite pitches are approx 30 ft from the road, we were on the ones 10ft away and the road noise was harrendous, from Sunday when we arrived until Thursday morning when we left, it was from 4-5am in the morning to between 10-11pm at night could not get to sleep for it, I know they say there may be some noise but this was far worse than that, it refers itself to rural, quite location, rural yes quiet not.

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback! We really appreciate it and we're glad you liked so much about the park. We're gutted the road noise spoiled your stay with us though. We do say on our website that there's a B road running through the village past the touring area and we do try to make all our guests aware of this when booking over the phone. However, there are certain times of the year when the road is busier than usual with agricultural traffic. We've also spoken to the local authority about the state of the road. Local attractions

What to do first? Well, if you’re travelling with kids, they’ll probably love you forever if you let them spend time observing the owls or meeting pygmy goats and cute Valais Blacknose sheep (or feeding their lambs in spring) at the Small Breeds Farm Park (20 minutes’ drive). If science is more their thing, join a guided tour of the working observatory at The Spaceguard Centre (25 minutes) to learn about asteroids and comets. To explore a woodland rich in wildlife, pack a picnic and head out on the trails in Mortimer Forest (20 minutes). There’s a walk for all levels of abilities and you might spot deer or birds of prey as you enjoy views over Shropshire and Herefordshire into Wales. For a ramble combined with a history lesson, follow the path up to the Iron Age earthworks at Croft Ambrey Hillfort (10 minutes). Local National Trust treasures include Croft Castle and Parkland (10 minutes), with an impressive 11th-century mansion, gardens and a vineyard to have a root around, or period furniture and elaborate costumes to admire at graceful Georgian-era Berrington Hall (20 minutes). Ludlow (25 minutes) also warrants a visit for its spectacular half-timbered buildings, medieval castle and lively restaurant scene.
