Local attractions

Hire a canoe or a kayak for a trip down the River Wye to Hay-on-Wye, three miles away: if your arms can handle it you can continue another five miles on to Whitney-on-Wye. Plenty of outdoorsy options are within very easy reach, at the outdoor adventure company a couple of miles from the site: take your pick from orienteering, gorge walking, caving and rock climbing to clay pigeon shooting, archery and paintballing, all of which take place in and around the spectacular setting of the River Wye and the nearby hills. There are plenty of fab towpaths, lanes and hillside tracks you can explore on two wheels around Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as a small loop that comes off the National Cycle Network’s National Route 42 and runs through nearby Hay-on-Wye. From there you can take a leisurely ride down to Llanthony Priory, which lies at the foot of the Black Mountains, and stop off for sustenance at the eatery next door.
