From the manager: Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Janet.

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and that everything met your expectations. It’s especially lovely to know that your dogs enjoyed Dorothy’s Dog Field and that the seating was helpful for you. We wanted it to be a welcoming space where everyone could relax, so your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank you also for your helpful suggestion about providing water in the dog field during periods of very hot weather. It’s something we’ll certainly give some thought to, as we always welcome ideas that could make our guests’ stays even more comfortable.

We’re also very grateful for your kind private feedback. It’s wonderful to hear you appreciated the warm welcome from the team, the peaceful surroundings, our convenient location and the ANPR entry system.

Thank you again for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you and your dogs back to Briarfields again very soon.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Stuart.

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the site and facilities during your stay, and we really appreciate your recommendation.

We noticed your comment about there being no children on site. As an adults-only touring park, this is something many of our guests choose us for, as they enjoy the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere it provides. We completely understand that this style of park isn’t for everyone, but we’re pleased it allows us to offer the tranquil environment that so many of our visitors are looking for.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back to Briarfields again soon.

Liked Location of site and pitches

Disliked During peak summer may be an issue as only one toilet block provided also a number of pitches require better privacy hedges.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review and for taking the time to share your feedback.

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed our location and found the pitches to be level and well positioned.

Thank you also for your comments regarding the toilet facilities and the privacy hedges. We appreciate your observations. Like many gardens and parks over the past few years, our hedges have had a particularly tough time with the prolonged periods of very dry weather followed by sudden heavy rainfall. We’re working hard to care for them, with additional watering and maintenance, and we're committed to helping them recover and continue providing the privacy our guests enjoy.

We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Briarfields again soon.

Liked Very nice clean site. Good sized private pitch. Excellent dog field for those with four legged friends. Good easy access from the M5. Excellent site for a stop off on way down to Devon/Cornwall.

Disliked Only negative comment is that it is next to a busy road. Local dog walks were mentioned but involved in part walking alongside this road.

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the cleanliness of the site, the privacy of the pitches and the dog walking field. It’s also great to know our location and easy access from the M5 worked well for your journey.

We appreciate your comments regarding the nearby road and local walking routes. While our location offers excellent access to Cheltenham, Gloucester and the motorway network, we understand that some local walks do involve short sections alongside roads before reaching quieter routes and green spaces.

Thank you as well for your kind private feedback about the facilities, pitches and dog field. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you would choose to stay with us again.

What customers say

Briarfields is praised for its spotless facilities, generous pitches, and helpful staff. Close to Cheltenham and Gloucester by bus, with shops and dining nearby. Occasional traffic/plane noise noted, but guests loved the adult-only, tranquil vibe and special touches, with many eager to return.

Local attractions

Well. Where do we start? At least a day in Cheltenham first, we think – more if you’re coming to have a flutter at the racecourse just four miles away or jazzing it up at one of the many festivals. Catch the bus early to take in as much as poss: a morning coveting the art, furniture, crafts and jewellery at Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, many created by Cotswold craftspeople inspired by William Morris, should build up an appetite for lunch and an afternoon of shopping around The Brewery, Bath Road and in the well-lined High Street. Harry Potter fans and the history-inclined will likely want an hour or two at medieval Gloucester Cathedral, used in the first and second films (see if you recognise the Cloisters). Away from Hogwarts, the cathedral has an award-winning exhibition centre, exhibitions and guided tours, and regular events and concerts including The Three Choirs Festival, one of the oldest classical choral music festivals in the world. The Gloucester Docks and award-winning Waterways Museum is also a good afternoon out for heritage fans, while the more modern can find plenty to occupy them at the waterside retail park Gloucester Quays. Plunge into the countryside next for a couple of days in the Cotswolds, where you’ll find acres of things to do whatever your inclination such as punting around local villages like Chipping Camden and Bourton-on-the-Water, or visiting the many museums ranging from Roman to motoring times. Wildlife options abound too, particularly for birders, with the Cotswold Falconry Centre at the Batsford Arboretum, geese and swans at Slimbridge Wetland Centre, and Birdland Park and Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water where twitchers can see rare birds from around the world, including England’s only group of king penguins. Finally, take a day or two in the ancient Forest of Dean (Harry Potter and co ended up here too), one of the oldest woodlands in the country, to go underground at the old mines of the Clearwell Caves, hire a bike to hit the forest tracks, or, more relaxingly, take the four and a half mile trip from Lydney to Parkend on the Dean Forest Railway.
