The rural site on a sunny day

  • Quiet and well-kept CAMC-members-only site with rural Derbyshire views
  • Crich Tramway Village 10 minutes’ drive; Chatsworth House half an hour
  • Pub five minutes’ walk; grocery shop and takeaways 10 minutes’ drive
Small, peaceful and well maintained, The Chestnuts Certificated Location (open only to Caravan and Motorhome Club members) sits on the edge of the Peak District National Park, surrounded by rural Derbyshire views. Access to this simple site is easy, thanks to the wide entrance set back off the road. There are no electric hook-ups or showers, but the grass in the camping field is regularly mown and guests have access to fresh water, recycling, waste disposal and battery charging (the latter on request). If it’s Peak District walking you’re aiming for, there are ambles aplenty along quiet country lanes, or you can head to Cromford Meadows (15 minutes’ drive) and wander along Cromford Canal to the landmark Black Rocks (about 35 minutes on foot). Other places to seek out locally include a foodie pub five minutes’ walk away and several more within 15 minutes’ drive. The village of Crich (10 minutes’ drive) has a butcher, chemist, convenience store and bakery, as well as various takeaways and another decent pub.
