A clean, well-kept park, great for families with an excellent playground and open feel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities, especially restrooms, are praised for cleanliness and modern amenities. Some road noise noted; a few guests had issues with uneven spots and shower timers.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked Good camping and caravan park with access to electric pitch ups. A 20 min drive to Buxton and Bakewell. Has a shop on site with friendly and welcoming staff. There is a kids play park and a pizza delivery service between 12 and 3 in addition to a local pub about a 5 min drive away who serve food until 7:30pm. The campsite was quiet with no noise from neighbours.

Disliked No power sockets in the toilets for hairdryers and hair straighteners. The showers were nice and hot but you have to keep pressing them every 5 seconds. Take your own toilet roll as the toilets often ran out.

Liked -Playground
-Shop & friendly shop staff
-Well kept grounds
-No nearby dog walks onsite

Disliked -Dirty toilet and shower facilties
-Wed-Friday no cleaning or toilet roll top up
-Clean on Friday afternoon and Saturday but there was a drain smell so strong in the womens they had to prop the door open with a brick.
-No evening warden number or support for issues
-Large Dofe group on Saturday camping, teen boys coming to sit in the women's shower and toilet areas to hang out with girls, large groups of teens playing tag in the dark, hiding behind our awning, and gathering in large groups. (No warden to report to).

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked Overall a very well maintained site, friendly staff and excellent location

Would recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, I just hope they can get On top of toilet/shower block maintenance

Disliked Toilet/shower blocks weren’t cleaned regularly enough during our stay. They were only cleaned once during the 4 days we were on site and started to feel very unclean for a good few days before they were cleaned

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Extremely good for young familys. Facilities excellent and very clean.

Lots to do locally within driving distance too.

Disliked Not really the campsites fault - but something to be mindful of is the non-electric tent pitch locations are directly next to the main road (small row of trees and a small wall). This was noisy, even through the night, when we stayed.

Liked Really clean facilities, easy to use and eco-minded. The children's play area is really good! The site is easy to find and a short drive to everything we wanted to see.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Proximity to YNOT festival was convenient for the stay.

Disliked The tourer and camping reception was not well signposted and difficult to find.
Water for the tourer area near the toilets is a trek…..it makes no sense not to have a tap on that side when there is clearly services for the bathrooms.

The bathrooms are modern but smell absolutely vile. The showers are very grubby, the water quickly rises in the drain, the button has to be held constantly, it stays on for 3 seconds.

There were 6 handwash dispensers and every one was empty. Toilet roll was not replenished and therefore missing in a few toilets. It felt like no one can be bothered. You shouldn’t have to report basics such as handwash and toilet roll, it should be on a rota.

The outdoor sinks were also unkempt and grubby. Needed a good clean.

It has the potential to be a lovely camping and tourer site but lacks care and attention and needs a little TLC to maintain what are actually decent facilities.

Was very expensive for a pitch that was not fully serviced.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked Facilities were relatively well kept.

Disliked The grass electric pitches were on a hill making it not only uncomfortable but impractical to set up a tent without everything sliding down the hill.

Signal was awful, no WiFi making it difficult to get google maps up

Toilets smelt awful, soaps were empty most of the time, toilet roll wasn’t getting filled either, showers ran for 3 seconds a time.

Tons of wasps

Local attractions

This is Austen country, so you can barely turn around without tripping over some stately pile of bricks... If you fancy gliding around as if you own the place, adopt an air of wealth and superiority and head to Kedleston Hall, Sudbury Hall (with its Museum of Childhood), Hardwick Hall, Chatsworth House and The Old Manor, all within roughly half an hour’s drive of Newhaven, then chauffeur yourself over to Melbourne Hall, just under an hour away. Hols with kids are pretty easy in these parts too, as there’s absolutely oodles to distract them with within an hour of the site: make your way to Matlock for the Heights of Abraham alpine cable car and Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park (and the Crich Tramway Museum, Peak District Mining Museum and Masson Mills for some grownup sanity). Also get along to Buxton for treetop adventuring at Go Ape; underground exploration at Poole’s Cavern, and Alton Towers for some adrenaline-fuelled rides. If traipsing around on land isn’t really floating your boat, spend a day (or two) at Carsington Water, less than half an hour away, for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, powerboating and fishing, or head to WaterWorld (just outside Stoke-on-Trent) for some indoor waterpark splashing around.
