Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Very nice location in a nice area, the hosts are very nice and since we were in a bit of a muddy situation with the car, they helped us right away. It was advertised there is a portable toilet which was actually sparkling clean. The farm nearby is lovely and it's a nice walk, our son loved it, and so is the playground. The place is near a road but at night it's pretty quiet, and the network connection at least for us was good

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: More than enough room for tent and campervan, pitch size seemed to be unlimited, pitch up where you want on the field.

Disliked: Was large venue tents set up on the next field that play very loud music till gone 3 am. Only one toilet that wasn't well looked after. ( Didn't see any staff throughout our stay ) The field was not flat, had trouble getting out in the campervan, lucky someone else camping pulled us out using there car but owners wouldn't pick up phone. A van was being pulled out by a tractor as we arrived. The field had large tractors tracks all around which were a trip hazard.

From the manager: Sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay, unfortunately the neighbours had a teepee wedding on a few fields away that we weren’t aware of hence the music… this is a one off! Our toilets are cleaned 3 times each day & the whole field is flat! The ground was a little wet due to the amount of rain which can’t be helped !

Very clean spotless.

Liked: Lovely views, clean facilities and friendly owners

Disliked: Would be great if there was access to the village play area through the farm rather than round the road

Local attractions

Highlights in the Peak District include the Peak Cavern (15 minutes’ drive), a network of underground chambers that also hosts live music concerts; and the Mam Tor mountain, a not-too-challenging hike that rewards with far-reaching views of the surrounding hills. The spa town of Buxton (15 minutes) spreads around the Buxton Visitor Centre & The Buxton Crescent Experience, part of an elegant Georgian sweep and the place where you can learn more about the local health-giving waters. Buxton Opera House sits on the edge of the Pavilion Gardens, crossed by the River Wye – and by a miniature railway. Chatsworth House (half an hour) is well worth a visit, whether you want to relax along the banks of the River Derwent with a picnic, or explore the 105-acre garden, with its statuary and waterworks. The impressive Painted Hall, in the elegant 18th-century mansion, is covered in dramatic and vibrant frescoes.
