  • Five-acre farm meadow in a peaceful riverside location
  • Stowe and Silverstone within a 20-minute drive; 45 mins to Oxford
  • Pet-friendly site on the edge of Thornton village
Riverside Camping is a quiet campsite on a family-run farm between Milton Keynes and Buckingham. This spot is surrounded by a peaceful rural landscape on the edge of the village of Thornton, a few minutes' walk from the gorgeous Ouse Valley Way. With five acres of meadow to pitch up and relax in, it's also an uncrowded spot. Amenities at Riverside Camping are simple, but include basics like access to a hot shower and flushing toilet (plus extra portable toilets brought in for busy weekends). Handily for tourers, the site also has capacity to deal with waste from caravans. Kids and pets are welcome at this quiet family-oriented site, and there are plenty of peaceful areas nearby where dogs can be walked. All of these different groups will find lots to keep them occupied in the surrounding area: there’s Silverstone for speed demons, Milton Keynes for bowling, indoor skiing or climbing, Buckingham for its museums and Claydon House for heritage, all of which are within 30 minutes by road. For food shops, restaurants and a local farmers' market, head into Buckingham (10 minutes' drive), where other attractions include an ancient gaol and a public leisure centre. Pick up breakfast bits while you're in town, but save space for the eggs that get delivered to site for guests to buy. Please note that this is a peaceful site: quiet hours apply between 10.30pm and 7.30am and there should be no noise after midnight.
