Liked: Friendly and welcoming owners, large area to pitch our tent on and beautiful scenery across the meadow. Plenty of nearby wildlife and clean toilet facilities. Brought our dog who had a great time meeting and running around with the owners dog. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Liked: A lovely area, a central base to explore the area. The site is unspoiled with plenty of places to play/explore e.g. the woods, rope swing, big field - exactly what's needed to have a good time camping, and to completely unwind. We all enjoyed seeing the deer explore the field! Audrey and Keith couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming.
Disliked: The only downside was the facilities, but you don't spend a huge amount of time in the toilets etc anyway so it wasn't an issue for us. The benefits far outweighed the negative

From the manager: Thank you so much for such a lovely review. It means a lot to us when visitors appreciate the simplicity of what we’re offering. It’s basically just wildlife, woods and a swing! We really enjoyed having you here and look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Keith and Audrey

Liked: We arrived and were welcomed by Keith and Tiger (his dog) who was super friendly and helpful, he gave us a tour around the beautiful campsite and gave us recommendations for the local area, such as kayaking, pubs and walks. We camped in the wooded area and were lucky enough to be the only ones at the site. We saw and heard many deer and birds throughout our stay, giving it a magical and off-grid feel. Due to Keith and I sharing a birthday that day, he gave us the fire bowl and wood for free! (usually available to use at a small fee). Thanks for a lovely stay, Keith and Audrey :)

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Had to go through an industrial area to access the Campsite. No real thought to accommodating campervans or rooftents as we had to pitch in the car park. Toilet block is unpleasant as is inside a container. Advertised as 'wild camping' but is just a piece of spare land with no real thought put into making it a pleasant experience. Access was difficult as we had to go through a Ford. Alternative instructions should have been sent to us when we booked. Marking 1 star as unable to score as 0

From the manager: We are so sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay. Unfortunately, as you arrived after 11pm it wasn’t possible to greet you as we would have liked. The weather has been particularly nasty and so we are currently having to ask vehicles to park on the hard-standing in our field. Hopefully, once the weather improves, we will be able to offer a prettier spot. We are also sorry that the toilet facilities didn’t meet your expectations. They are undergoing refurbishment, but will remain quite basic, in line with our no frills description. The directions provided on our entry do advise avoiding the ford. We put Gravelpit Hill Lane in our address to encourage visitors to use that lane. Thank you for your review.

Liked: Liked the open meadow, back to basics style camping. Really friendly owners (who were very helpful throughout our stay), the kids loved running off into the field, playing with the DIY swing and stage. It was amazing to open the blinds and be greeted by deer in the morning. Perfect location for access to Legoland too. Would highly recommend and we will be back.
