  • Spacious pitches at a family-run farm in rural Bedfordshire
  • Grafham Water and St Neots 15 minutes' drive away
  • Well-stocked village shop and off-licence on site; pub a mile away
Grab yourselves a break that covers two counties with a stay at Top End Farm, on the border of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In the village of Little Staughton, this family-run farm stretches over 11 acres, so lovely country views are standard. The pitches are spread across two fields, making plenty of space for all guests to set their kit up and relax. Facilities have been very well thought out too, particularly the two heated toilets and shower blocks (with large shower cubicles, hair dryers, shaver points and an accessible wet room) and the kitchen area, which has a food prep area, a freezer and two large sinks. There’s a play area to keep the kids busy too. If you're bringing along dogs, take them up to the dog roaming area that covers the top part of the field; they're welcome to run free here, under supervision, as the area is securely enclosed. Sorting food to prep is a doddle, as the site has firepits that can be hired for an additional fee. The farm is also home to the village shop and off-licence, which stocks local veg and fresh bread along with meats for the barbecue. For a more extensive stock-up, there are supermarkets in St Neots, 15 minutes’ drive away. And if you don’t feel like cooking? The folk on site can provide you with details of various takeaways that deliver to the site, or the village pub is a little over a mile away. The farm also has an information hut with all manner of local info on places to go and things to do – activities nearby include fishing, golf, various aqua parks and bike rides, or days out at the Shuttleworth Collection, Woburn Safari Park and Wyboston Lakes.

Liked Family friendly atmosphere and a great place to come for a weekend with the children. Easy to find and not far from supermarkets. Owners are lovely, friendly and very present making sure the site is running smoothly! Onsite shop stocks everything you need. The late checkout really helps make the most of our last morning.
Being at Top End is great and every time we come it is full of other families having the best quality time together. It is a very happy camp and has a positive respectful atmosphere.
Second year staying here and we will come back again soon. Thanks Top End Farm for a wonderful May Day weekend

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Beautifully kept grounds, quick responses from staff for queries, well stocked shop, regularly cleaned toilets. We benefited from dry weather so extended our stay from 2 nights to 4. We came off peak time so enjoyed having much of the pitch to ourselves.

Seems to be a place for dog lovers mainly. We were the only ones without dogs. Most owners kept their dogs on a leash on the campsite and there is a great place for dogs to run off least outside the campsite.

Disliked No up to date tourist information about local places to hike or walk. Some of the leaflets in the information hut looked that they’ve been there for a decade.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review, if you do have a smaller lead and you do struggle to reach the electric please speak with our wardens who can always offer you a extension lead

Liked Brilliant site, perfect level large grass pitches. the site is set out so you can watch your kids play safely.
The washing facilities are immaculate and the on-site village shop is well stocked and really good value.
Fire pits are brilliant value and provide hours of camping fun to toast marshmallows 😋
The on-site wardens are wonderful people, Mandy organised a Easter egg hunt while we were staying which was brilliant fun for the kids.

Disliked Limited local activities if travelling by foot.

Local attractions

Keen to try something that will get everyone involved and perhaps raise the competitive spirit? There are a few places nearby for that. Head to Colmworth Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive) for some putting action, or Sporting Targets (20 minutes) to discover which clay pigeon shooter among you has the greatest aim. At Southlake Waterpark (15 minutes), you can try different watersports, including paddleboarding, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Grafham Water (15 minutes) is a little more laidback, with activities such as fishing, sailing and peaceful bicycle rides. Like animals of all shapes and sizes? For wildlife watching, head to one of these three: Woburn Safari Park (35 minutes), Herrings Green Activity Farm & Bird of Prey Centre (half an hour) and the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve (15 minutes). For a day of general pottering, St Ives (half an hour) should do the trick, with its pretty town centre, riverside walks and indie shops. Shuttleworth Collection & Gardens (20 minutes) has a short woodland trail and a vintage aircraft collection, making it a nice contender for slow-paced days out too.
