Unpowered grass site
Liked When we arrived for our prepaid pitch at 5pm on 6th October we found reception locked, all the sanitary blocks locked and literally nobody and no other vans/tents on site. We tried ringing an emergency phone number on the door of reception but this just went through to an answer phone message in French which was too quick for me to understand. We had to deduce that the site had chosen to close early for the season without informing us. We had to drive for an hour to reach a site which was still open and could accept us. This was despite being sent a routine message 9 days earlier reminding us that we were expected and giving us further information about the site. We have received nothing from the site in terms of explanation or refund
Disliked If the site had chosen to close early and had contacted us with a refund we could have made alternative plans and avoided a very stressful experience (and several unnecessary miles of driving).

Unpowered concrete and grass motorhome site
Liked This site was a bit special! The big open view out to sea was exactly why we bought the van, and we got up early to enjoy a magical sunrise. We also enjoyed looking at all the horses, donkeys, sheep and alpacas in the neighbouring fields. As it was low season we only shared the site with 3 other vans so it felt very quiet. The walk down to Robin Hood’s Bay was lovely. The toilet/shower block was basic but spotlessly clean.
Disliked As I was coming down with a cold I couldn’t face the unheated shower cubicle in the morning (it had dropped to 6 degrees overnight) but my husband managed it. I’m sure it would be perfectly fine in warmer weather, or if I was feeling fitter.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked Quiet sheltered field with clean basic toilet and wash basin facilities. We enjoyed the walk to Appleton Le Moors and back
Disliked The brewery and pub were a little disappointing . We definitely had better pints elsewhere but that is personal preference. The offering was just what the brewery produced- basic ales, larger and cider. No stronger or specialty ales

Liked Very warm welcome and useful suggestions for walks and pub. Super clean and warm facilities. Even a place I could plug in my electric hot plate to cook and wash up indoors. Beautiful walk around the farm lands and views out over Hutton Le Hole. The surrounding countryside was absolutely stunning!
Disliked Nothing
