Coneysthorpe, North Yorkshire, England
Powered concrete slab caravan site
Liked Nice location next to Castle Howard
Good sized pitches but many are not level
Disliked I like crows but blimey, there's was loads of the in the trees at the pitches
They were so noisy they woke me every morning at sunrise
The management of the site are so strict about dogs being on a lead at all times
You are told this on check in and it it highlighted bin your welcome leaflet
However, a couple let their 2 pugs rum around their caravan, a Labrador was often running loose around the pitches
2 spaniels were loose and one nearly KILLED a duck
My dog is always on a lead I don't understand why so many people ignore the rules and make it unpleasant for the rest of us
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thanks Kirstie. It is upsetting to know that some of our guests had no regard for the rules of the site. New signs have now been displayed about keeping dogs on a lead and our team will patrol when possible to ensure they are adhered to. Every year the crows feature in guest reviews but with so many large and beautiful trees in our rural setting this is to be expected. I'm sure you can appreciate that in bygone days, pre electricity, the dawn chorus was the alarm clock for everyone to get up and make the most of the daylight hours but because of technology our sleep patterns have changed whilst the natural world still follows the eternal patterns of the sun and the seasons. Some guests really enjoy the 'dawn chorus experience' whilst others suggest ear plugs; a sensible suggestion for light sleepers when camping.

Liked Very nice and friendly warden on reception who couldn't be more helpful
Very quiet and peaceful nights stay
Disliked Very small and cramped site
A large number of static vans with touring pitches crammed in around them
Shower facilities and laundry very outdated therefore didn't use them
Couldn't find any where safe to walk the dog
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for your review .We are a small 3 acre site with only 20 static vans. Our tourer area is all in one block between our beautiful river and canal feeder .Our ladies and gents shower block has been totally updated ( only finished in March.) to a very high standard and very modern. Our dog walk is at the top of the site , short but pretty. The canal path is also within 300 yds. Yes our laundry is basic ,but functions.

Liked Great stay off season
Showers and toilets were immaculately clean
Disliked Has a large number of long stay caravans
Would be too busy in high season
The laundry facilities were very dirty so I didn't use them I feel the long term residents / visitors need to look after their facilities dryer looked like it had dog bedding in it it was full of hairs
Takevaeay wasn't open but that wasn't stated anywhere before booking
The shop didn't have anything useful such as milk

Longtown, Cumbria, England
Powered concrete and grass caravan site
Liked Friendly helpful staff
Clean facilities but very dated
Disliked Showers very small with hardly anywhere to get dressed and unable to avoid your stuff getting wet
Very small pitches surrounded by grass which was getting churned up and muddy
Too small and expensive for what was on offer and in winter
Also sick of people letting their dogs run around off the lead
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for your review and sorry that our site did not live up to your expectations. It has been a particularly wet winter and the grass is very very soft. We have just completed a development to add on additional hard standing pitches to account for this moving forwards. We do ask for all dogs to be on a lead on site so i am sorry that this was not the case. The showers are quite small but we take on board your comments and will consider options to assist with this issue moving forwards.

Hexham, Northumberland, England
Powered gravel and concrete caravan site
Liked Quiet and relaxed stay but wouldn't like to be there at the height of summer as it is a very large park and it has a lot of permanent and seasonal caravans as well as a number of statics
The showers and toilets are very nice and fairly new but the cleaning isn't very good
Disliked Only one Washing machine and dryer for a very large park
The dryer isn't very good and takes nearly 2 hours to dry one load
Also the laundry room is closed between 9.30 and 5pm so that's also resticting
There is a lot of stuff cluttering around permanent pitches making a really nice wooded area look a mess, with so much decking and furniture gnomes and windmills never mind the cheap fairy lights spoils the park the place needs a good tidy up
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: I wouldn't say our site is very large, compared to some we are a small site. Our Showers & toilets are checked & cleaned everyday. You were asked a few times by staff if everything was ok & you had no complaints while you were onsite. The laundry room is open between 9.30am & 5pm, If there was a problem with the dryer did you report this to the reception? you are given an information sheet when you check-in this asks that if you encounter any problems during your stay to please report them to reception & we will do our best to rectify them. What other customers have on their pitches doesn't affect anyone else's stay. Our gardener works hard around the site & if pitches are looking a mess our customers are asked to tidy them up. Thank you for your review.

Disliked A lot of caravans surrounded by rubbish and weather beaten furniture
Was planning to use the laundry services but didn't like £10 deposit for the door key, I've never seen this befor shower facilities not used but not clean enough for me
