Get ready for stacks to do in Slovenia… small and family-run Camp Vodenca is in the Soča valley, a famed destination in the land for all sorts of outdoor activities. The site is surrounded by the Julian Alps, with the emerald green waters of the Soča river flowing very close by. You can book hiking, gorge walking, canyoning, ziplining, paragliding, kayaking, whitewater rafting, snorkelling and caving trips with the Camp Vodenca owners; golf, horse riding and mountain biking are easily accessed in Triglav National Park, also very close by, and the Alpe-Adria-Trail runs right through the Vodenca grounds. Vodenca's also well placed for fly fishing (the only method of fishing allowed in the Bovec area), where anglers can hook themselves marble trout, grayling and rainbow trout in the Soča and its tributaries. And in among it all? Town days and traditional cuisine can be dipped into at Bovec, less than two kilometres away. Site facilities include a bar, a shared kitchen, a common room with tables and benches, barbecues, a campfire area and a multisports area. Toilets and showers are also available for guests.

Stunning spot with heaps of room, ace mountain views. Staff are super friendly & helpful, good at sorting out rafting trips. Facilities are tops – clean showers, decent kitchens. Some folks found reception shut mid-day, needed cash, and a bit dim in places. A few grumbles about unmarked spots and tent/car setups.

Liked Had a really good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and clearly worked hard at keeping the place nice. It was always clean. There were lots of useful things, like sockets and a fridge. They helped book excursions, we did the rafting which was a lot of fun. There were cats, we're cat people. Not too far from the river or from town. There were other campsites close by whose bars were open later.

Disliked The way to the river could be clearer. There was, what i thought, an obvious area to park your car, but people parked right in front of the grass, so that the view from most tents was a car. Because there was no assigned area to pitch people went anywhere, this is fine, unless you get a couple who cant be bothered to look and so just pitch up less than 1m directly in front of your tent and then park there car right next to the tent. Not the campsites fault but the only ppace this has ever happened to us.

Liked Ottima posizione per chi viaggia in macchina. Il personale è molto disponibile e il campeggio dispone di una cucina con 4 fuochi, forno e i bagni molto puliti. C'è la possibilità anche di fare colazione. Consiglio!

Local attractions

This is a smashing setting for Slovenian hiking, particularly along the Alpe-Adria-Trail, the 750-kilometre highly scenic path connecting Slovenia, Austria and Italy. Its local part runs right through Camp Vodenca on its well-signposted journey (punctuated along its sections, you'll be chuffed to know, by plenty of places to eat). The border of Triglav National Park – the only park of its kind in Slovenia – is very close to the site and home to some splendid natural sights such as Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav (2864 metres), and the Julian Alps. Kanin mountain, overlooking the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, lies around 13 kilometres west of the site, and is a popular spot for skiing and other snow sports. For those who yearn after yet more natural sites, the Boka Falls, Lake Krn, the Vršič Pass and the mountain road to the Mangart Saddle are within easy reach of here.
