Surrounded by forested hills and lush meadows, EuroParcs Biggesee has a spectacular setting overlooking Biggesee reservoir in Ebbegebirge Nature Park. Guests keen to get out on the water or onto peaceful forest walks can do just that within five minutes’ stroll from this North Rhine-Westphalia campsite. Several miles' worth of hiking and biking trails follow the banks of the lake or disappear off into woodland – and of course, there’s plenty to do on the water too, from swimming off Waldenburger beach to fishing, dinghy sailing and paddleboarding round the wooded shoreline. And if you need a rest from all that outdoor activity, simply head for the wellness centre and put your feet up in the sauna. As well as lots of useful facilities like hot showers, baby-changing rooms and washing-up sinks in the pristine amenities block, there’s a daytime snack bar to keep hunger at bay. If you’re intent on going down the self-catering line, pick up fresh bread and groceries in the campsite shop, where bits and bobs like sun cream and swimwear are also sold. As there’s so much going on, ask the helpful team at reception if you’re unsure of what to do or where to go first; staff members there can also organise paddleboard hire and sailing lessons for you. Please note that this holiday park is currently still under development.

Great Biggesee proximity! Friendly staff, decent main showers. Downsides: uneven pitches, distant/poor toilets (some seem permanent temporary blocks), unreliable Wi-Fi. Some check-in woes, poor privacy, neglected facilities, few activities.

Liked Schnelle Buchung über die Webseite und sofortige Hilfe zum späten Checkin. Schöner Platz und gut erreichbare Stellplätze.

Disliked Stellplatz nicht gerade und eine kleine Herausforderung beider Ausrichtung des Wohnwagen.

Liked Prettige ontvangst en de ruime kampeerplek.

Disliked Toiletgebouw achter de receptie staat bij de chalets in plaats van bij het kampeergedeelte, vanaf onze kampeerplek veel te ver lopen.
Het andere toiletgebouw is buiten gebruik, overigens ook ver weg. Hier staat een festivalkeet voor met 3 toiletten voor dames waarvan 1 afgesloten, 1 zonder toiletbril waar het water continue bleef stromen, dus blijft er 1 werkend toilet over. Bij de heren in dezelfde keet 1 toilet en een urinoir. Op de camping is niets te doen, niet voor volwassen en ook niet voor kinderen. geen restaurant aanwezig, dit word wel vermeld in de gids van de ANWB. Voor mensen die slecht ter been zijn is deze camping zeker geen optie ivm de te lopen afstanden die vaak ook hellend zijn. Wij komen zeker niet terug en zullen deze camping ook niet aanraden aan anderen. Wij zijn vaker bij betere campings geweest die onder EuroParcs vallen.

Liked Zugang zum See war sehr nah und die Fahrrad Runde um den See war super ausgeschildert.

Disliked Leider waren die Sanitär Anlagen sehr dreckig, kaputt.
Die liege Fläche zum Zelten Ware oke, sehr viele Steine.

Liked The water in the shower was nice, but the shower itself was broken

Disliked The temporary toilet.
The noise the guest made. I have heard loud dance music through out the night.

Liked Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Ankunft mit dem freundlichen Empfang. Der saubere Stellplatz, die Umgebung. Alles in Allem ein sehr schöner Kurtzurlaub. Der Platz lädt zum Verweilen ein. In der Nahen Zukunft werden wir wieder kommen und einen längeren Zeitraum auf dem Platz verbringen, damit wir auch die Umgebung kennenlernen können. Dieser Aufenthalt diente ehr dazu, den Wohnwagen zu testen und mal aufzubauen. Dennoch ist die Lage zur Badestelle zum Biggesee optimal und wir sind natürllich an der Badestelle bewesen.

Local attractions

If you’re already had a dip in the fresh waters of Biggesee reservoir, it’s probably time to see it from another perspective. Try out the amazing lake views from the soaring Aussichtsplattform Biggeblick observation deck (15 minutes’ walk), or take a cruise on the MS Bigge from Sondern (15 minutes’ drive), taking in the impressive Sonderner Viaduct and the feat of engineering that is Attendorn Dam. If you fancy time-travelling back to the Middle Ages, take a trip to Attendorn (10 minutes) to explore its cobbled streets and medieval buildings, enjoy a beer in pavement cafés and take the kids to the Südsauerlandmuseum, with its eccentric displays of stuffed sabre-toothed tigers and Lego models. Drolshagen (25 minutes) is another pretty town, with lots of half-timbered chalet-style buildings and cute cafés in which to take a break. Should you hit a rainy day, head to Olpe (20 minutes) for a cinema and a waterpark with an indoor pool – or escape the weather by heading deep underground at Atta Cave (five minutes’ drive) to see its amazing limestone formations in one of Germany’s largest subterranean caverns.
