  • Family-friendly garden site with Atlantic views in southern Brittany
  • A 10-minute walk to Skividen beach, and 40 to Guilvinec fishing port
  • Heated indoor pool, spa, shop, breakfast delivery and food trucks
A carefully maintained and lusciously planted camping ground, Camping Les Vergers de Squividan extends over three hectares of greenery in gorgeous southern Brittany. Mature trees shade and shelter the pitches and you’ll have glimpses of the Atlantic Ocean amid the flowering hedges and apple trees prettying up the place. So what can you expect when staying here? Quite a lot, as it happens. A heated indoor swimming pool, with decking to laze on and shallow pools for the kids, for starters – plus a contemporary spa cabin with a sauna and hammam (extra charges apply). As well as playgrounds for the kids, communal areas include a living room with books and games on offer, where you can hang out with family and fellow guests; and there always something going off on site, be it a bread-making class or Breton-themed nights when you can tuck into crêpes and find out all about local culture. Order the night before for a breakfast delivery of freshly baked pastries and bread, and if you don’t feel like cooking every day, sometimes food trucks visit the site. There’s a handy store for any stuff you’ve forgotten, plus a linen-rental service so you can stay light on packing, while a washing machine with tokens is available at reception.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Great site 10 minute walk along a quiet lane to a wide sandy beach. Plenty of shade and large pitches providing privacy.

Disliked: Shower block and toilets are unisex. Also no toilet paper provided - reminded me of camping in France 30 years ago!

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: We arrive about 12noon (arrivals are from 12) and whilst reception was closed at that time, they leave your pitch details on the door, so we were able to settle in.
The pitches themselves all look pretty flat but some are closer together than others.
The site was lovely and quiet in the evenings, even though it was fully booked during our stay.
Due to the time of year though, the demand on the toilets and showers often exceeded supply and we had to queue for the loo and showers a few times.

The toilets and showers (both unisex) are cleaned daily. Water was always nice and hot.

There is a daily bread/pastry delivery, but make sure you add your name to the list by the specified time.

In the height of summer they have visiting good vans(Mon, Tues, Thurs I think) - 1) mussels/frites, 2) burger style van 3) crepes (these were lovely, but be prepared for a wait -he's popular).

There's mention of a shop (in reception) but I wouldn't recommend relying on this for your essentials - make sure to stock up before you get there! (It's also only open during reception hours, so you're out of luck if you wanted an ice cream between about 10.30 and 16.00!)

The location is great - about 10mins walk is one of the loveliest beaches I've been to. Sandy, clear water and really big. Even on a weekend in August it didn't feel overcrowded!

Disliked: Queuing for the toilet (although this was in August, when the site was fully booked)

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Very clean site, we had a nice big partly shaded pitch, friendly staff, short walk to a clean, white sandy beach. Facilities kept clean throughout the day. Lovely nature reserve for bird watching near beach. Good location for visiting other areas, like Guilvinec fishing harbour (went there several times to watch trawlers bring in their fish). Lovely town. Nice Sunday market there too.

Disliked: At first we disliked the fact there were no toilet rolls provided and that the facilities were shared between females and males, but after a day or 2, we soon got used to it. It wasn't a big issue at all.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: A beautifully kept site, quiet with excellent access to the sandy beach within walking distance. Toilet/shower block was extremely clean and the washing machine came in handy. Owners extremely helpful and upon arrival you were given a map indicating the vacant pitches so you could take your pick. We walked to Lesconil, the neighbouring town, using the coastal path and were amazed by the spectacular views. Perfect for cycling too as all on the level. Sand Martyn’s were nesting along the beach so ideal if you’re a bird watcher.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Lovely big grassy pitches, we could choose where to pitch. Heated indoor pool open from 2pm to 7pm, a fabulous bonus and lovely and warm water. Being there in May it was quiet and sometimes had the pool to ourselves. Well organised on arrival, a note for us on the door because reception not open all day when it's quiet, welcoming us and for us to choose a pitch and go back to reception when it was open. Just a lovely well loved and well looked after site.

Disliked: Not the sites fault. Just a bit disappointed that the nearest beach down the lane has lost its access onto the beach due to erosion. It would be good to be advised of this by the site and re directed to the next closest which isn't much further just turn left at the little T junction instead of right.

Local attractions

Should you ever want to leave this leafy little haven, it’s easy to follow a footpath down to the expansive sandy dunes of Skividen beach (10 minutes’ walk), where you can hike the coastal trail between Guilvinec (40 minutes) and Plobannalec-Lesconil (45 minutes). To explore southern Finistère on foot or on bikes, the Grande Randonnée 34 long-distance trail snakes along the Brittany coastline, leading to dramatic cliffs, peaceful bays for swimming and sandy beaches. The area is also a hotspot for watersports including surfing and kite surfing at Pointe de la Torche (20 minutes’ drive), or you can spend an afternoon trotting along the sands at Skividen on horseback (five minutes). Angling is another favourite local pursuit, so why not take a deep-sea fishing boat out on the Atlantic waves to try your hand at catching sea bass and bream? Other fishy pursuits include guided tours of the fish market at Haliotika (10 minutes), and you can watch the local trawlers come into harbour with their daily catch at Guilvinec. Inland, artisan markets turn up tasty Breton souvenirs like cider, sea salt and canned sardines. Ask at reception for a current schedule of local markets.
