Staying outdoors in the gorgeous Burgundy countryside is a wonderful thing – but then, so is staying in a village where you’ll simply be able to stroll to various useful amenities like shops and places to eat. How handy, then, that you can find both in one place at the quiet Camping Beauséjour – this peaceful and pretty site is packed with flowers, trees and other greenery, and it’s surrounded by the lovely landscapes of the Yonne region. With spacious grass pitches marked out by hedges for privacy and shade, it has the feeling of a real rural retreat. In fact, this is also a village location, as it’s on the edge of Sergines, about 10 minutes’ walk from a grocery store, bakery, pharmacy, bar and pizzeria. And if that’s not quite convenient enough, there’s a bar and grocery store on site too. Other facilities on site include a pétanque court and skatepark for some entertainment, and various essentials including a launderette, washing-up area and bathroom block with accessible facilities. Days out from this site might take you to wander around local towns like Sens or Provins, to explore the nearby vineyards or to spend time in the open air – perhaps hiking, fishing, cycling or climbing trees.

Disliked: It needs life injecting back into the site. Overpriced in comparison to other sites we've stayed at.

Liked: Great for an overnight stop, quiet rural location, better suited for adults without children

Disliked: WiFi only available outside reception but unable to gain access code as reception closed, not given at check in.

From the manager: Cette note est mitigée, dommage pour nous! Effectivement, la zone WIFI se situe seulement à l'accueil et nous remettons le code sur simple demande. Notre réception est ouverte toute l'année de 17h à 20h, mais comme indiqué sur la porte, vous pouvez nous appeler et nous venons vous ouvrir à n'importe quel moment de la journée (9h 20h) puisque nous vivons sur place. Pour les enfants, nous n'avons pas d'aire de jeux mais il y en a 4 dans notre village, et ils sont vraiment les bienvenus chez nous, qui avons nous mêmes des jumeaux de 6 ans. Nous vous souhaitons de belles vacances, Jenny & Alain

Local attractions

If your main aim is to spend time in the open air, you’ll have plenty of options nearby – perhaps fishing in nearby rivers and lakes, clambering up into the trees at Jumping Forest (half an hour’s drive), riding the tracks of the Cyclo-rail de Puisaye (50 minutes) or walking through the Forêt d’Orient Regional Natural Park (an hour). Strolling around towns is a rewarding pursuit around here as well – the closest place of size is Sens (15 minutes), and it’s a lovely place where you can visit the cathedral and museum, shop at the covered market and explore the tropical greenhouses of Moulin à Tan Park. Nogent-sur-Seine and Villeneuve-sur-Yonne (both 25 minutes) are both great options if you’d like a riverside walk. A little further afield, your travels could take you for wanders in Auxerre or Troyes (both an hour), or even to Paris (around an hour and a half). Other grand days out nearby include the lavish Château de Fontainebleau (45 minutes) and the Palace of Versailles (an hour and a half), one of the most-visited historic sites in the world.
