For Croatian hols that mix and match chilled beach days with more adventurous outdoorsy stuff – like mountain biking, hilly treks and extreme canyoning – make your way to Medora Orbis Camping and Glamping in Podgora. The Split-Dalmatia site overlooks the Adriatic Sea for dreamy ocean views, and its Makarska Riviera backdrop also holds mountain ranges, lush greenery and pine woodland to roam between the pebbly beaches. The helpful folk at Medora Orbis can sort out cycle hire for you to trundle off on your explores. When you’re not out adventuring, kids are kept busy at base courtesy of the playground, and there’s a covered barbecue area with long tables and benches where you can meet other guests and mingle over grilled grub. There’s also wifi available, so you can check in with/show off to old pals, too (or plot your next outing). Also on site are areas to wash dishes and clothes (and yourselves). Pets get treated to their own shower, so if your canine pal is tagging along on your hols, they’ll be in for some pampering.

Great spot near the beach. Facilities are spotless, staff super helpful. Free bikes, laundry, and tidy pitches are a bonus. Access road's steep/narrow for big vans. Some noise from hotels & laundry queues at busy times. Pitches can be stony, tricky for pegs.

Liked Super camping 50m od plaży. Czyste sanitaria, dostęp do prądu i wody na parcelach. Na duży plus darmowe rowery, pralka oraz suszarka. Miła obsługa.

Liked Bardzo fajne miejsce blisko morza sanitariaty ok

Disliked Nie ma mozliwosci rezerwacji miejsca , jechałam z innej destynacji gdzie już od kilku mac wiedziałam gdzie bede stacjonować Personel w recepcji niestety nie jest elastyczny wybierał miejsca z dostępnych najmniej atrakcyjne po przejściu pola i na moja sugestie czy można zmienić nie zgadzał sie argumentując ze musi być zostawione dla dużego kamper- po czym podczas mojego pobytu byl tam namiot.

Liked Great staff and very clean toilet and washing areas etc. Nice location also.

Disliked Not very level and tight spaces so hard to get a 8 meter motorhome turned and parked and level, everyone struggling.

Local attractions

It’s just a few minutes’ walk from base to Podgora beach, and there are plenty more seaside stretches along the Makarska Riviera, too. For walks requiring slightly more effort, make your way to Biokovo Nature Park to tackle the Biokovo massif, or do it by bike for extra pedal power – however you approach it, there are gorgeous coastal views to keep you company as you climb. Adrenaline junkies might also like to head to Zip Line Tučepi (10 minutes' walk) to fly across a scenic canyon, or ZipLine Croatia (50 minutes) to go soaring over the Cetina river. Opt for some island hopping by catching the one-hour ferry from Makarska (15 minutes’ drive) to Sumartin in Brač; once on the island, kayaking around its bays and beaches is a fine choice, and there are some fab spots for windsurfing. Or drive to Drvenik (20 minutes) to catch the 35-minute ferry to Sućuraj and explore Hvar’s pretty beaches and ancient historic sights instead. If it’s history you’re after, visit Split (just over an hour) to see the impressive Diocletian's Palace, considered to be one of the most imposing Roman ruins, and tour the Saint Domnius Cathedral while you’re there, too.
