Plasyngheidio Touring Caravan Park: Seating area and swings

General

  • Well-maintained and quiet site on a working family farm
  • Just over a mile to the sandy beach and coastal path of Nefyn
  • A 10-minute walk from the local pub

Peacefully placed on the Llŷn Peninsula and surrounded by coastal and mountain scenery, Plasyngheidio Touring Caravan Park is on a working farm run by the same family for four generations.

The site is small and friendly, in quiet countryside but close to activities and attractions around Pwllheli and the peninsula: it's just over a mile to the seaside town and sandy beach of Nefyn, Abersoch is within 20 minutes, and the spectacular Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path stretches for 91 miles of splendid coastline from Caernarfon and Porthmadog. Away from the peninsula (if you must) Snowdonia National Park is within 30 minutes and Anglesey within 40 (you must).

Amenities include ladies' and gents' showers and toilets, a wheelchair-accessible and family bathroom, and free wifi throughout the site. The grounds are level and well lit, but please note you'll need a torch when making the 10-minute walk back from the local pub.

Please note

Reception is unmanned after 7 p.m.. Please inform the park while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Electricity is metered on site at £0.20 per kWh and must be paid at check-out.

We loved this site straight away. A small family run site on a farm near Boduan. We were made very welcome by Anwyn the owner and settled in. The friendliest site we have visited, and most of the other visitors were regulars (and mostly Welsh too).
The facilities were spotless, Anwyn spent hours cleaning everything down at night.
It was very quiet and peaceful and the setting was lovely, sheep, hills and even a bit of sunshine. So far it has been our favourite site. Thanks to Anwyn.

Small quiet site, about 19 pitches some with long standing caravans on. Quite a new site and the shower/toilet and other facilities are lovely and kept very clean by the site owner herself. Never had to pay for a shower before but it was well worth it, nice hot water for around 5 mins a time which was plenty long enough even to wash hair. Two ‘pods’ on the site too with their own kitchen area, nice idea. The laundry and washing area was good too, all very well laid out. A field for kids to play ball etc and a small equipped play area with a couple of picnic tables. A site well thought out. Owner is a kind and caring lady, always around to help if needed. A tight but fair run site, just as it should be, caring about all her visitors comforts and needs.

    Disliked:

Only marginal downside was the pitch was a little bit smaller than we had hoped but saying that it was large enough for our camper van and awning and just enough room to sit out comfortably. Caravan owners had their cars parked at the front and still had a small area to sit out. So not really a dislike, just our own expectations.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. Lovely to see people happy and It nice to see everyone happy on the site. it make us happy to see this. Thank you for visiting us and hope to see you again.

Quiet, nice flat pitches, nice to have electric charged only for what you use, as we never use a lot.
Very clean and tidy. Lovely owner/operator very helpful.

It would be nice to have an indication of how long your 50p gets you in the shower, as you have to put it in the meter outside the shower cubicle itself, so it'd be a bit late if it ran out whilst you were covered in soap. As it turns out it was long enough as we're quick, but clarity never hurts.

Shower cubicles really need some way of being able to keep some part of it semi dry, it's all in one and by the time you've finished everything ends up wet. Just a curtain that could be pulled across or something. Some kind of mini bench or something to sit on would be much better too.

Having said that, it was hot, powerful and kept super clean, which is a much needed thing when camping/motorhoming.

There's a dog walking field, but as it's a working farm dogs have to be on leads at all times in all places on this site. Worth considering if you have dogs.
There was a little area with a swing and a play field for kids as well, all kept very nicely.

Although it was explained that free wifi was at the whims of the provider, we never picked up even a hint of any Wifi for the duration of our stay.

We Cannot pleas everyone, and you always get certain people that finds something wrong. But we try our best here. The fields are not meant to walk your dogs here. It is a working farm. We will take everything in mind of what you said and see what we can do. Thank you for your review.

Local attractions

It's a 10-minute trip by car to the wide, south-facing sands at Pwllheli, a former haunt of smugglers and pirates. You'll find it quite a bit calmer these days, especially if you follow the fab Llyn Coastal Path round the peninsula for views and wildlife and splendid sea air. Sandcastles, paddling and rockpool exploration are all there by the sea, but don't overlook the town and its lively twice-weekly market.

For a break from the beach, try Glasfryn Parc (10 minutes' drive), a multi-activity centre where you can ride quad bikes and go-karts, meet farm animals, fish and try your hand at wakeboarding. Anything else? Oh yes, archery… and bowling.

The coast will call you back of course and when it does, head half an hour to Port Meudwy and catch a boat to Bardsey. Occupied since Neolithic times, later home to monks and saints, this wild little outcrop is a place of peace and beauty and a fab array of birdlife; you might spot grey seals swimming by the boat too.

Check out Caernarfon Castle, sturdily built in the 13th century and still going (35 minutes' drive): dungeons and battlements as well as the odd re-enactment are on offer here. At Greenwood Forest Park (45 minutes), there's a fine spread of family thrills with an ecological twist: ride the solar waterslide, experience the world's first people-powered rollercoaster and whoop your way round the 70-metre sledge run.
