  • Welcoming wild camping site in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park
  • Two miles to a trail up Pen y Fan; Four Waterfalls a half-hour drive
  • Meadow pitches with on-site walks; home-cooked meals on Friday night
Ca’s Camping is in pole position for anyone keen to get out and about in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (formerly the Brecon Beacons). Situated on the edge of the mountains, with glorious views right from your tent, this is wild camping in a peaceful, flat meadow on an organic farm with dairy cows, free-range hens and ponies. The dogs get to come on your Welsh adventure too (on leads please), and you can exercise them in the designated 2.5-acre meadow adjoining the camping field, which has a stream running through the middle for family splashings around. A 10-minute walk in woodland takes you to waterfalls on a tributary of the Tarrell River. Pick up barbecue supplies from handy supermarkets in Brecon (10 minutes’ drive, check out the historic cathedral too), where there are also masses of pubs, fish and chip shops and takeaways for those nights when no-one wants to cook. If you’re staying on a Friday night, eat on site at Ca’s Citchen, when the owner cooks a tasty farmhouse supper (with dessert) made from locally sourced produce. Eat outside under the pergola or take your food back to your pitch. On Saturday evenings, weather permitting, guests can also join Ca for a food experience in the woodland near waterfalls. Simple site facilities include a toilet and shower block (installed for the 2025 season), a washing-up area and rubbish recycling points. An added bonus is the standpipes providing drinking water straight from a spring in the mountains.

What customers say

Beautiful, spacious site with awesome views, especially of the Brecon Beacons. Friendly owner, relaxed vibe, great for exploring Pen y Fan and waterfalls. Facilities are basic but clean, with hot showers. Some noted potential congestion at peak times and noise, but most loved it and want to come back.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Super clean and tidy- pitch area nice and flat and grass kept short. Very easy to find and walking distance into Brecon as well as into the Beacons - Albeit a much longer walk. I love that this is being your car and your tent- and that’s it- no vans, hookup etc- just what we wanted and turning up in the dark in a Friday night at 22:00 isn’t a problem- perfect! Oh and the water there is hot and there seems to be plenty of it- excellent!!!! We will be returning!

Disliked For us, nothing to dislike.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Great location for walking and exploring the Brecon Beacons, walked up Pen Y Fan from the campsite which took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours each way. Campsite was very quiet due to late season so a dream, great facilities and loads of hot water available. Owner was lovely and really helpful

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Ca works very hard and it shows, this site has the basics but done very well and is in a beautiful location.

Disliked Some idiots who took advantage of the laid back approach and decided to hold a tiny and very noisy rave around their campfire until 2am.

Local attractions

The site is actually in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, so lots of hiking and cycling will probably be on the cards. You can start on the trail up Pen y Fan (two miles’ walk from site) for spectacular views over mountain ridges to the horizon. Another classic local yomp leads up to the Four Waterfalls (half an hour’s drive); get more outdoor inspiration from the National Park Visitor Centre (15 minutes). When something less hardcore is required, pedal or stroll along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (10 minutes); otherwise there’s a golf course within five minutes’ drive and an indoor pool at Brecon Leisure Centre (10 minutes) – a handy diversion for any rainy days. Younger kids will doubtless love meeting all the cuddly animals at Cantref Adventure Farm, while teens can hone their off-roading skills at BattleMX (both 15 minutes). The National Showcaves Centre for Wales (25 minutes) is another great option for family days out, with its subterranean tours, dinosaur walks and recreated Iron Age village.
