Sea views

  • Peaceful coastal campsite with a private path down to the beach
  • New Quay and Aberaeron 10 minutes' drive; Cardigan 30 minutes
  • Working farm site with dog-friendly pitches and lovely sea views
If you’re off to the Ceredigion coast in search of some gorgeous views, you’ll certainly want to take a look at Carreg y Gwynt Caravan and Camping. This peaceful site is part of a working farm right by the coast, with fabulous sea views from the pitches. It all makes a wonderful backdrop to a barbecue or campfire evening while the sun sets. But there’s more… because there’s also a private path to Cei Bach beach, making it easy to get down there for a paddle, a picnic or a refreshing swim. Can’t get enough of those coastal views? You’ll also have access to the Ceredigion Coast path for some fabulous sea-view walks (dogs are welcome on site too, so they can join you on such jaunts). Sandwiched between Aberaeron and New Quay (both 10 minutes’ drive away), this site is in a great spot for getting out to explore the rest of the Ceredigion and north Pembrokeshire coast too – perhaps visiting castles, going dolphin-spotting or going kayaking. There are lots of lovely beaches to visit along the way too. Back on site you’ll be staying in a spacious grassy field where you can pick your own pitch; some parts are sloping so it’s wise to pack levelling chocks for touring vehicles. The site is mainly geared towards families, solo guests and couples looking for a peaceful experience, so large groups and people wanting to hold parties will need to look elsewhere. Facilities include drinking water, recycling bins, chemical waste disposal, an outdoor cold-water washing-up area and two toilets, as well as a basic shower with warm water.

What customers say

Peaceful, family-run spot with great coastal views. Friendly owners, clean facilities (showers upgraded), and lovely nature. Steep walk to the beach. Can be sloping; some noise from a wind turbine. A bit tricky to find for some.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked Very peaceful and quiet. Huge field with only me and one other van. Some people may be put off by the wind turbine which is nearest the best views of the sea but in terms of noise it was barely noticeable. Basic facilities (the other van seemed disappointed!) but includes all you need (toilet, shower, rubbish area, washing up, grey and Elsan). The more level ground I think probably lose the view but it is not that undeveloped. I didn't have chocks but it was not an issue. Approach roads are quite narrow with passing spots so may be a but white knuckle for larger vehicles. But great instructions from owners about turning round at the farm and approaching the entrance from the opposite direction.
Fantastic private access to Cai Bach (15min walk) But steep on the way back!! Would come again.

Disliked Farm is close to the end of the field with the best sea views and when the cows moved into the field opposite, the flies were a bit overwhelming. Won't bother some people but I hate flies !

Very clean basic toilets and the shower was really great. One of the best campsite showers. Ended up staying another night.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked owners were fantastic, their facilities (toilet, sink and shower) smelled better than any public toilet i’ve ever been in. we woke up to seeing cows and sheep happily going about their lives, beautiful rolling hills alongside the coastline and no matter the weather we felt safe and happy.

Disliked we can barely think of anything bad about the site, the only negative was people parked a large caravan incredibly close to our tent, their generators weren’t a pleasant accompaniment to the wonderful sunset. understandable if there was little space but there was an entire field for them to pick from. ideally a rule in place stating distance between pitches would be helpful but we can massively understand this is nothing to do with the providers!

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked A lovely quiet site with fantastic views and walks from the site along the coastal path. A huge field where you are left to park where you like. We camped by the windmill, and with the camper roof down we could only just hear it. It was a bit noisier with the roof up, but it's quite a soothing, constant noise so caused us no problems. Toilets were nice and clean, and the new shower was an added unexpected bonus. The owners are friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay :).

Disliked Campsite was a bit more unlevel than expected - make sure you take levelling blocks in case all the flat spaces have gone!

Liked Fantastic family run site on friendly working farm. A short (steep) walk down to a beautiful beach and the coast path. The most striking thing was the incredible views over the bay. We could see for miles! Will definitely be back.

Local attractions

New Quay (10 minutes’ drive) is one of your closest towns – and it’s also a great place to go for either dolphin-spotting boat trips or watersports including kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing. If you’d rather just relax, take a stroll among the colourful harbourside houses of Aberaeron (10 minutes) or head to beaches in places like Llangrannog (25 minutes), Tresaith (25 minutes) and Mwnt (40 minutes). Cardigan (half an hour) is a lovely place for a wander, with lots of indie shops and places to eat as well as the riverside castle, or you could explore Aberystwyth (40 minutes), riding the cliff railway or perhaps boarding the Vale of Rheidol Railway for an outing to Devil’s Bridge Falls. For other outings nearby, wander around the National Trust-owned estate at Llanerchaeron (15 minutes) or stroll among the blooms at Cae Hir Gardens (25 minutes).
