  • Peaceful adults-only Ceredigion site in the Melindwr Valley
  • A 15-minute drive to Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge Falls
  • Easy access from the A44; pub 10 minutes' walk away
Ceredigion’s coast and countryside alike will be yours for the taking when you stay at Aber Camping – this adults-only site welcomes guests aged 16 and over to a peaceful spot in the Melindwr Valley, about 15 minutes’ drive from Aberystwyth. Gorgeous rural life is all around you here – there are sheep and cows in the neighbouring fields, and you’ll often spot red kites, buzzards and other birds of prey flying overhead or landing nearby (wildlife photographers, don’t forget your kit…) Unobscured views of the surroundings also mean that this site is a great place to sit and simply take in the landscape on a relaxed break. And if you need a little more activity? Well, there’s plenty of that around too, whether you stay inland for hikes and mountain bike trails or head west to the coast for seaside walks, surfing, swimming and watersports (and perhaps the chance to spot the porpoises and dolphins that live in Cardigan Bay). This is an excellent location for 4x4 and off-road adventures. There are many trails nearby and guided tours are available at an additional cost. Ask ahead and you may be able to organise lifts to and from the train/bus station, or to local attractions – most handy for folk travelling without a car. It's also worth noting that the village hosts an annual festival at the beginning of July. Action-packed break or chillout time on the cards – either way, you’ll no doubt appreciate the effort that’s gone into setting up the facilities on site. Guests will have access to modern, clean toilets and showers (with ladies’ and gents’ sections), an enclosed washing-up area and a small shop for essentials. For more extensive stocking up there are plenty of shops in Aberystwyth, as well as places to eat and drink. Your closest pub, however, is a mere 10-minute walk away – a welcome site at the end of a long and active day…

What customers say

Stunning valley views and a quiet, adult-only vibe. Guests loved the friendly owner, Andre. Facilities are clean and adequate, with hot showers. Some found access roads a bit tight and pitches occasionally muddy, but it's perfect for a peaceful nature escape.

Valley View 1 bedroom on-site caravan

Liked Excellent little camping with a little shop, clean toilet and shower facilities. Situated at the bottom of a valley it has nice views all around, Andre the owner has been helpful in every possible way since before our arrival, he was so kind to open his shop for us to have late evening dinner and we had fun together at the local pub, thank you, hope to see you again sometime.

Top Field unpowered grass and earth tent or trailer tent site

Liked Absolutely stunning location with nicely laid out camping pitches and decent facilities. A good location for going to Aberystwyth.

Disliked Very stony pitch, couldn't put pegs in more than 2 inches. Toilet paper ran out in 3/4 of toilets and there were no spares (we could have called the site manager but we were only there one night and were leaving at that point)

From the manager: Hi
Glad you enjoyed your night with us. Sorry about the loo roll situation. Some campers take it to dry their tent! Then it runs out. When we checked at cleaning time we found the empty canisters. All sorted. Please do let the site manager know on any site if there are any issues. We would rather rectify them straight away than find out we had failed you by a review. You’re welcome back anytime. Kind regards
Andre

Top Field unpowered grass and earth tent or trailer tent site

Liked The views are wonderful, good location for the coast. We loved seeing the fighter jets doing their thing overhead as well. Loads of red kites and other animals around and about. Owner was very friendly, as was the site cat!

Disliked The roads into the campsite are NARROW - I wouldn't want to try and bring a big vehicle here. Pitches aren't quite flat but that's the risk you take with campsites. Also I felt having to pay extra for the showers was a bit odd today - it feels a bit of an outdated concept.

Local attractions

You’re bound to end up in Aberystwyth (15 minutes’ drive) sooner or later – it’s not just a place for practicalities but also a great spot for a day out, spending time on the beach, trying out various watersports, riding the cliff railway up to the camera obscura or visiting the National Library of Wales and the ruins of Aberystwyth Castle. Aberystwyth is also the starting point for the Vale of Rheidol Railway, which provides steam-powered trips to the stunning Devil’s Bridge Falls. If you’d rather head straight to the falls, it’s about a 15-minute drive. While you’re inland, stop by at the red kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest (five minutes) or head underground at Silver Mountain Experience (10 minutes). And then? Maybe back to the coast for a day at Borth (20 minutes), further inland to the hikes of Elan Valley (45 minutes) or north for an educational day at the Centre for Alternative Technology (45 minutes)?
