Meadow electric grass & gravel pitches

  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Lovely little site. In a great location with good amenities on site. The little coffee shop was an added bonus, the pizza smelt amazing but we had already eaten, river good for a dook and of course dog friendly. Toilets were clean and warm, plus I was able to get a hot shower too. The person who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. Was able to get us a brilliant pitch and gave some good and helpful local knowledge.

Disliked: All good! A few noisy campers and a middle of the night car alarm but non of these things could be helped and not down to the campsite which was great!

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Location right by the river. There is a swimming spot in the river just up from the campsite although you would have to go first thing in the morning to have it to yourself. Has a sauna although I didn’t try it.

Disliked: Would have been nice to have a disabled toilet. It does advertise this due to the hill up to the toilets but not all disabilities are visible.

From the manager: Hi, thank you for coming to Cobleland and i am delighted that you had a lovely time with us. We do have accessible facilities, which have recently been refurbished and are available by asking for a key at reception when you check-in. I'm sorry that this wasn't communicated to you but next time please ask for a key upon arrival. many thanks Oliver

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Everything was perfect for our dog and us when we tented here recently.
The location (Aberfoyle and Gartmore are very close either by vehicle, walking or cycling).
"The great outdoors" leisure experiences were right to hand (great for walking & cycling).
The facilities were exceptionally clean and plentiful, and the welcome and service from both Oliver and Dave was great.
Then there was the added bonus of the Coull coffee cart (coffee, breakfast rolls & slices) making our stay even more enjoyable.

Liked: The site was in an excellent location. The guy in the shop on arrival was really helpful and gave us information about the site and local walks. I was even given milk the next morning as i (and the shop) had run out. The site is well maintained with great facilities for campervans.

Disliked: We couldn't fault the site - really busy site but we had a relaxing stay
