Disliked The site was nothing like the pictures shown on the website. The whole site including reception was untidy and scruffy, especially the children’s playground. The touring area was very small (made to look bigger in the main picture.) we were overlooking piles of gravel, more was delivered before 8 the first morning, and an old chalet which was ‘awaiting repair’. We were told the site was being resurfaced. We asked to be moved because we were very close to the next unit which had a table under our window and there was plenty of space, only one other caravan. We were accused of not liking our neighbours! We were accused of knocking on reception after hours for shower tokens - we had already said we didn’t want tokens when we arrived. We had booked for 4 nights but left after two having been told we would be better leaving because we wouldn’t be leaving a good report anyway. I feel the site should have closed in order for them to do the work and should be reinspected to check the current rating.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are sorry that Creebridge Caravan Park was not what you were looking for.
We do, however, feel it is important to provide some context and correct a few points for future guests reading this review.
The difficulties began at check-in when you requested an additional tent pitch free of charge. We explained that a separate tent pitch would need to be paid for, as this was not included within your original booking. Unfortunately, you were unhappy with this from the outset.
At the time of your stay, improvement and resurfacing works were taking place on parts of the park, which meant some gravel and materials were temporarily stored on site. We appreciate that this may not have presented the park at its best, but these were improvements being made to the park and it remained fully operational.
We would also like to correct the statement that gravel was delivered before 8am. This is not accurate; the delivery did not take place until after 9am.
Regarding your request to move pitches, we did not accuse you of simply “not liking your neighbours”. During the discussion about how close you felt you were to the neighbouring caravan, the neighbouring guests themselves commented, “we must be bad neighbours.” We are therefore disappointed that this has subsequently been presented as an accusation made by us.
Pitch allocations also have to take existing and forthcoming bookings into consideration, so a pitch appearing empty at a particular time does not necessarily mean it is available for another guest to move onto.
We are also surprised by the comments regarding shower tokens, as you had already advised us that you did not require them.
Creebridge is intentionally a small, traditional and rustic family-run holiday park rather than a large commercial resort. We continually maintain and improve the park while doing our best to minimise disruption to our guests.
We are sorry that you chose to leave after two nights of your four-night booking. We accept that Creebridge will not suit everyone; however, we are disappointed by the 1/10 rating and do not believe it provides a fair representation of our park or the full circumstances surrounding your stay.

Liked Easy to find, everything is well marked. And easy access into the village. Warm friendly welcome. Lovely sight thats well set up, picnic bench and kids play area. Toilets and showers were nice and clean.

Liked The gentleman that booked us in was great. Very welcoming, very helpful. We were camping at different sites nightly and this is our favourite . I was camping with my daughter and there was a pub not far that did lovely food too

Liked This campsite was in a perfect location for visiting Newton Stewart, with really clean facilities, a play park and really friendly helpful staff.

Disliked The camp area was a small area in a mainly static park which may not be to everyone's taste but it worked fine for what we needed.

Creebridge is intentionally a small, traditional and fairly rustic holiday park, rather than a highly developed resort-style park, and we appreciate that this won’t suit everyone. However, cleanliness is a different matter, and your comment regarding the shower screen is something we take seriously. We will make sure this is checked and addressed.
We’re always working to maintain and improve the park while retaining the peaceful, informal character that many of our regular visitors value, so we appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention.
