Liked: Wonderful peaceful location on the edge of Savernake forest. Warm welcome from the wardens. Great that you can select your own pitch, lots of areas to choose (non-electric is further from road). Immediate access into the forest for dog walks and kids to explore. Dark skies and lovely to hear the bird song in the morning. Definitely planning to return. The warden said that Sunday - Friday is the best for quieter stays, although they do limit numbers so it's never too busy.

Liked: Probably our favourite campsite to date. There's something a little old fashioned about the site that reminds me of childhood holidays or scout camps. We loved camping amongst the trees although being able to choose our pitch anywhere of course meant too much choice and driving round and round arguing about the best spot to park. Direct access to Savernake Forest was fantastic - such a beautiful place for walking. And only a 7 minute walk to a large Tesco store or about 25 minutes right into the heart of Marlborough.
We only live just over 20 miles away and wanted to test our motorhome out without using EHU and looked for a local site for a quick weekend break - but we have fallen in love with this site and intend on coming back often and for much longer.
Disliked: Not really a dislike but it would of course be useful if there were showers on the site - but more so that it would be more convenient for friends with tents to spend time here with us.

Liked: Lovely location in forest and able to choose your own place to pitch. Easy walking distance to Marlborough. Great dog walking around site. Good communication from wardens. Great value for non electric pitch.
Disliked: Very basic facilities. No showers (which we knew before we arrived) and only small central toilet block which could have been a problem if the site had been busier, particularly as these toilets seemed to also be used by general public visiting the forest.

Lots of room and very well maintained grounds. On arrival Chris came out to meet us and knew us by name, that is something unusual! He and his partner were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful.
Overall an excellent stay.
Disliked: Showers would be a good addition but not impossible to deal with.
