Owner
This is a no frills campsite which was perfect for us.
Within 5 minutes of booking, the owner rang me to talk me through the place and what to do when we arrived. He then called to make sure we were ok once we were in and also popped around to see us, a real personal touch. A decent pub is about a 10 minute walk, although the road could be quite dangerous, carry a torch at night.
Very basic amenities although dont let that put you off, the shower was actually amazing.

Unpowered grass caravan site
Liked: We were so lucky to find this little gem as a site, we arrived at another site we did not like in Wiltshire and quickly rebooked for this site. We arrived with 2 caravans with dog in each and toddler, 10 minutes after booking to a warm welcome from the owners. The sight is really stunning with beautiful views, peaceful and spacious, lovely grass. We had a great nights sleep! What really makes this site something truly special is the owners, their hospitality and helpfulness. As we went to carry on our journey the next morning our cars were stuck after a brief but heavy shower of rain, the owner could not have done more for us helping us in the rain getting involved and helping in anyway he could putting back his own plans. He truly went above and beyond for us and we couldn’t thank him more. Genuinely one of the nicest people you could wish to meet, interesting to talk to and because of that we will definitely be look to returning next year and setting this site as a firm favourite! Thank you again so much!

Liked: Very peaceful site with stunning views and a good location for exploring the local villages. We had the best night sleep for a long time!
Disliked: It was hard to find as there was only a small sign on the ground. We drove passed several times. No-one greeted us, so we didn't really know where to go. Also the toilet door needs attention as it was hard to close.

Shepherd's hut
Liked: Lovely warm welcome. Fabulous view. Peaceful time with much needed space and nesting in the shepherd 's hut after a wild camping experience at a festival the night before. Appreciated the hospitality especially and the breakfast brought out to us in the morning. Both Mark and Sam were perfect hosts and we enjoyed the chats too. Thanks very much for a well needed rest and revival of soul and spirit. Fiona and Gav Parker www.onwardlymapless.com
Disliked: Just the bolt inside the door didn't lock. All good otherwise.

Shepherd's hut
Liked: Loved the little shepherds hut. We bought our own bbq but didnt need to as there was one provided. There were sun loungers & a cute table & chairs for us to use. There were logs available for us to use which we made a fire pit out of in the bbq after dinner. A lovely surprise in the morning our host bought us breakfast rolls, sausage, egg & bacon & a tray with tea, coffee etc which was really thoughtful! Will definitely book again as only a 40 min drive away for us. Good value for an overnight last minute booking. Hoping to stay longer next time!
Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: What a lovely little site,we stayed with our little dog for 2 nights. We had the perfect weather which is always a bonus.
the compost toilet was a refreshing change, it was clean and much fresher than a port-a-loo.
The edges of the field had been left uncut providing a haven for wild life , we spent hours watching the different butterflies fluttering about, truly beautiful.
The site is in a quiet location 10 minutes from a supermarket, perfect.
the hosts were very welcoming and they directed us to a great place to walk out dog.
we will definitely return soon, I would have liked an extra day.
