Peaceful, back-to-basics site with great views, loved by families & dog owners. Compost loo & hot shower mostly clean. Spacious field, near Chagford. Tricky to find & access for big vans. Friendly owners, improving the place. Shower temp/water supply issues noted.

Liked the simplicity of the site…
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Liked the simplicity of the site and arrangement into small field areas which reduced crowding.
The owner is obviously developing the site, which feels 'looked after'.
Disliked A second toilet would be an enormous benefit and the separation of the single water source to differentiate handwashing and drinking water.

Disappointing with the potential to be much better. Nice location
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Excellent location with dark skies and just the right distance for a pleasant walk into Chagford, toilet and shower were reasonably clean
Disliked Arrived to a field with livestock faeces everywhere. No toilet roll in the toilet for the first two days I was there, with no evidence of any upkeep during that time. Information on shower asks to keep the gas at the lowest setting, which meant the water was barely warmed.
With the field cleaned up before the camping season, a warmer shower and toilets with toilet roll and hand sanitizer, I'd have been happy enough to pay £10-12 per night, fine with £15 especially given the nice location. I paid £20 per night for 1 person in a tent when I think the main advantage I had beyond pitching up on Meldon Tor for free just down the road was the fact I could leave my tent in situ during the day. I really don't think it's too much more effort to create a decent campsite, but sadly it feels like the proprietors want the money from running a campsite without the effort.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Very peaceful and quiet pitches, laid back and easy. Good value for money and a great camping experience with a lovely surrounding area with lots to do
Disliked No toilet roll every now and then and only one water tap with a trough below full of mucky water making it unappealing. But simpler amenities made it feel more simple and peaceful whilst being practical

Liked Very nice meadow with a nice view of the hills. The good shower was an added value!
Disliked A little harder to find and the road is very narrow. No problem for us, but it is a point of attention for travelers with campervans.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Really nice site hidden away in the hills near Chagford. Back-to-basics toilet and shower which - perfect if what you are really after is a hot shower. Great views and a very flexible owner. Would highly recommend. Use the google map directions on the pitchup site to find it as the entrance is quite hidden! T

Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked Wonderful quiet location. Useful signs along the way to let you know you’re going in the right direction. When we arrived the shower wasn’t working. A quick call to Fred and the water supply issue was resolved. Absolutely superb service. Would highly recommend if you like quiet camping.
