  • Next to a bus stop with connections to Padstow and Wadebridge
  • Playground and ball games space; hot showers and wetsuit/drying area
Small but nicely formed, the pitches at The Laurels Holiday Park are interspersed with a mixture of hedges and shrubs to give guests a bit of extra privacy. The site is also next to a bus stop with connections to Padstow and Wadebridge. The essential facilities at this Cornwall site, two miles from Wadebridge, are impeccably maintained: there’s free hot water in the washing-up area and showers, plus hairdryers, a washing machine and freezing for ice packs. There’s even a special area for washing and drying wetsuits – it gets regular use given the excellent surfing and watersports nearby… Barbecues and campfires are a fab idea in a place like this, and the folk on site have made such things simple: there are firepits available to hire (only a limited number though, so booking's essential) and there's a stock of logs, kindling, firelighters and flo gas on sale too. Pint-sized visitors can mess about on the boat in the playground, which is well-equipped with climbing frames, swings and a large trampoline, plus a space for ball games. The site is also Fido-friendly, with a small enclosed area to dogs to do their business off lead.

What customers say

Great spot, spacious and private sites, with tidy modern facilities. Handy for exploring Cornwall, and bus links are easy. Some road noise, but not too bad. Kids' play area and dog park are a bonus. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe make for a good stay.

Gold powered grass caravan, tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked Great site. Great amount of space per pitch. Toilets and showers very clean.. great little park for the kids and a football pitch to play in. Everything you need on site and shops 4 mins down the road. Close enough to everywhere we wanted to visit.. there Re 2 freezers onsite to put ice packs in. Wifi on site which is brill with havi g kids that want tk chill out on an evening. Dog enclosed field for them to ahve a run around and dog bina nd poo bags are provided which this is a brilliant idea

Disliked Only thing you can hear the cars on the road but not a massive issue. Think could have done with a fridge being onsite as well as the freezers just for people that dont have fridges with them.

From the manager: Thank you so much Nichola!
We are pleased you had a great stay and appreciated the little extras like the use of freezers for ice blocks and the dog bags available to use in the dog area.
We are in a fantastic location - easy access to shops, pubs and beaches.
We do hope you would come and stay again,
Best Wishes :)

Gold powered grass caravan, tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked Lovely campsite, cleanest toilet facilities I’ve ever seen at any campsite. Owners are really attentive and provide lots of information. Kids play area is fab especially the trampoline (according to my children!) and it’s great how it has an enclosed dog walking section for our anti social bulldog!! Oh and also the dipping tank and hanging facility for wet suits is a fab feature and a life saver as we spent most days on the beach bodyboarding so would have struggling with wet sandy wetsuits each time! Thank you

From the manager: What a wonderful review - thank you Harriet!
We are so glad you and your family and the dog had a great stay and that the children loved the trampoline :)
The wetsuit dunk tank and drying area is definitely needed with us as there are so many beaches close by to explore.
We really hope to welcome you back.
Best Wishes :)

Gold powered grass caravan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Small site which made it quiet. The location was spot on. 4 minutes away from shops for food. 10 minutes from Padstow a local harbour and 17 minutes away from Porthcothan bay small beautiful beach.
The facilities were perfect and cleaned regularly. There's a park on site for the kids to play. Nothing to complain about. Everything you need for the perfect camping experience.

Gold powered grass caravan, tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked What a lovely little site the Laurels is. We stayed for 8 nights, I loved the fact each pitch is well sectioned off with hedges or bushes. Very clean and tidy, the owners are always cleaning. Well located, easy reach to Padstow, rock, lots of beautiful beaches. Would highly recommend.

Disliked Nothing!

Bronze power optional grass campervan or tent site (small)

Liked Small site but all the facilities. Great toilets and showers and water was hot. Provision to wash up plus facilities for campers/motorhomes. Local info available for trips in kitchen area. Fridges available for campers. Lighting was good at night. No pitch is far from facilities. Owners where easily contactable if any issues. Great location to access Padstow less than 10 min drive. Lovely artisan shopping complex just outside gate down the road with great cafe for breakfast and lunch. Bus stop outside for padstow to wadebridge. Big tesco towards Wadebridge with fuel available. Felt super safe as a female solo traveller.

Disliked Nothing I didnt like about this site. Whilst you can purchase fire pits, gas etc on site I suppose the only thing missing is a small shop for essentials bread, milk etc and a few luxuries. This is by no means a criticism I loved it here.

Local attractions

The Laurels is three miles from the riverside market town of Wadebridge (the bus stops right outside the site), where guests will find good eating and shopping. A little further up the road (six miles or so) is Padstow, which has TV chef Rick Stein’s famously fabulous seafood restaurants and cookery school as well as some fine surfing beaches. Boardmasters can also find ripping fun at Polzeath (20 minutes' drive), and the world-famous waves of Newquay are only 15 miles away. Fans of the Doc Martin TV series should visit the fishing village of Port Isaac (25 minutes) to see the doc’s cottage and many other pretty 'Portwenn' locations. This being Cornwall, there are oodles of interesting things to see and do – too many to list here, but to start you off: it’s only a 35-minute drive to the legendary Tintagel Castle, half an hour to the fascinating biospheres of the Eden Project, or 35 minutes to the fishing village of Boscastle. Guests could also make a day trip to Lands End (perhaps combined with a walk around the attractive harbour town of Penzance), to the National Maritime Museum and dockyards at Falmouth, or to St. Ives, to explore the colourful harbour and art deco splendour of the Tate Gallery.
