Everyone on site was very friendly,…
Unpowered grass site
Liked Everyone on site was very friendly, steve brought us some zip ties so we could attached a rod to the car before leaving
Disliked Needs a really good clean, other people on site flooded the shower/toilets 3 times so made going to the toilet hard as it was all dripping wet and they allowed the family to stay despite doing it multiple times. My niece cut her foot in the shower on the steel wall in the rush to get her sorted I forgot the power bank I had charging and was told it was "unfair use of electric".
Used the freezer for icepacks and were accused of putting beer and pop in the fridge they weren't ours. When you run water in the sink they get a very powerful smell coming up the drain.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are genuinely disappointed to read your comments, particularly as none of these concerns were raised with us during your stay. We take all feedback very seriously and are always happy to address problems, but we can only deal with issues at the time if we are made aware of them.
We would therefore like to provide some context to the points raised.
Our toilet and shower facilities are cleaned and checked between four and six times every day during the busy summer period. At peak times they are communal facilities being used by up to around 200 guests, so while we work extremely hard to keep them clean, we cannot guarantee that a floor will remain dry or that another guest won't leave something untidy between our checks. If anything requires attention, we are on site throughout the day and evening and will attend to it as soon as we are told.
There was an issue during this period involving children from a group of three families playing with water in the facilities. Once we became aware of what was happening, we spoke very firmly with the parents and made it clear that if the behaviour continued, we would have no alternative but to ask the families to leave. Thankfully the parents worked with us, the situation was resolved and we were not made aware of it continuing afterwards. We have subsequently introduced additional monitoring of the communal entrance areas to help us identify problems of this nature more quickly.
We were particularly concerned to subsequently read that your niece had apparently cut her foot in one of the showers, as no injury or sharp edge was reported to us during your stay. These shower cubicles have been in use for approximately five years and their metal edges were finished and ground smooth when installed. Had an injury or potentially sharp area been reported, we would of course have inspected it immediately and taken the shower out of use if necessary.
Regarding electricity, your booking was specifically for a non-electric pitch. Non-electric pitches do not include access to the site's electricity supply, including for charging phones, power banks or portable battery stations. We have to apply a consistent rule as there has to be a reasonable distinction between our electric and non-electric pitches. More importantly, we cannot permit electrical devices or lithium battery packs to be left charging unattended in public areas because of the potential fire risk. We did have to raise this on more than one occasion during your stay. If a guest has an urgent need to charge a small device, we always ask them to speak to us and, where possible, we will try to help safely from the shop.
The photographs also deserve some context. The light pictured is on the outside of the building and, like any external light in the countryside, attracts insects and cobwebs. The brown marking beneath the bench is rust staining caused by the permanently wet shower environment rather than an accumulation of dirt, and the area pictured with the mop is our cleaning corner, where mops are also available for guests to clear excess water if required. These areas are nevertheless included in our regular cleaning routine.
There is also a likely explanation for the smell mentioned. We operate a septic tank system which, during the busy summer season, is professionally emptied approximately every two weeks. The tank is situated directly behind the ladies' facilities. Unfortunately, while it is being emptied there can temporarily be an unpleasant smell from the tank and its external vents. We position the tanker to minimise the effect wherever possible, but depending on the wind direction some odour can occasionally reach the facilities. It is temporary and does not indicate a problem with the drains.
We don't pretend that communal campsite facilities used by large numbers of people will look freshly cleaned every minute of every day. What we can promise is that we take their cleanliness extremely seriously, clean and check them repeatedly throughout the day, and respond quickly whenever something additional is brought to our attention.
We are sorry that you left feeling disappointed, particularly as we had no indication during your stay that you were unhappy and were pleased to help you when you did approach us. We genuinely encourage guests to speak to us if something isn't right. We are here, we are approachable, and in most cases we can resolve an issue very quickly.
Unfortunately, what we cannot do is investigate or rectify an issue for the first time after a guest has returned home, which is why we always ask guests to please talk to us while they are here and give us the opportunity to put things right.

Unpowered grass site
Liked This campsite was my absolute favourite! The family who own it really made my stay special. I recommend this place to everyone ☺️ warm showers, toilets, somewhere to walk up, running water, electric pitches available, it's clean, friendly and loads of cool facilities like a cafe in the morning, a bar in the evening and a little convenience store, and a laundry room, ALL ON SITE!
It really is perfect for tent campers, caravans, or the full glamping experience!
Disliked Not a single thing! 😍
