  • Quiet adults-only site in the middle of the Land's End peninsula
  • Spacious pitches marked with hedges; smart modern bathroom block
  • A 10-minute drive from Sennen Cove and the Land's End viewpoint
Want to run away from it all but avoid the crowds of Cornwall in clement weather? Head to the end of the country and pitch up near smashingly scenic Land's End at family-run Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park. This is a site for those into their scenery: the four and three-quarter acres of grounds have been carefully landscaped to be filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, alongside roomy pitches that are thoughtfully laid out and individually marked with hedges. Award-winning Sennen Cove – full of surfing spots, wildlife watching and stunningly scenic sands – is less than three miles away. Cardinney's facilities include a well-stocked shop that sells Calor gas alongside grocery essentials. It's also got a fully equipped launderette and a smart luxury bathroom block (newly opened for the 2021 season).

What customers say

Fantastic adult-only spot. Clean, modern facilities, private pitches, friendly staff. Great location. Minor points (push button showers, occasional shop stock limits) don't detract from a fab experience. Many want to return!

Liked We had a lovely stay at Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park! The site is exceptionally well-maintained, with spotlessly clean facilities that made our stay very comfortable. The pitches are generously sized, giving everyone plenty of space and a real sense of privacy.

We also appreciated the small on-site shop, which was perfect for grabbing any essentials we’d forgotten. Another handy feature was the covered washing-up area — especially useful in the unpredictable Cornish weather!

What really stood out, though, was the friendly and helpful staff. They were always on hand with a smile and great local recommendations, which really added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Disliked The only small downside was the push-button showers, which need pressing every 20 seconds or so to keep the water flowing. It’s a minor inconvenience, but combined with the fact that it could get a bit chilly in the shower area, it might be worth bringing a warm towel or robe for after your shower.

Liked Automatic barriers meant that we could return whenever we wanted which was a nice touch. Showers and toilets were clean and the showers were very spacious. It was good that we could adjust the temperature.

Disliked It would be nice if there was another shower block as we were pitched a bit too far from it.

Liked The staff were so helpful and friendly. On arrival it had been raining for most of the day and expected to rain well through the night, the pitch booked had been in need of some topsoil as a running repair but because of the rain it was very muddy - we were offered an already erected large bell tent complete with a bed and chairs for the night so we didn't have to pitch up in the rain, we were also offered a double pitch to set up on the following morning since our original pitch (an extra large and serviced one) was still unfit to use. Once set up we had a fantastic two weeks. The site has ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) at the entry barriers so entry was a breeze. The dog walking field allowed our little pooch to run around and meet with the cows (through the fence) in the neighbouring field. It was my partners first proper camping trip and she was expecting it to be cold and damp, far from it and she loved it and is looking forward to the next trip! Bonus!!

Disliked The rain on our arrival - I thought this would put my partner off but the staff on site were so friendly and helpful, they won her over.

Liked Toilets & showers were very clean & modern. The pitch was very private with hedging on 3 sides. Electric & water supply appears to be on each pitch with a drain below the tap so no muddy patches. Entry & exit was via a barrier with automatic number plate recognition. Enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Dogs are not allowed in the toilet block, it would have been nice to have an outside hose to rinse the dog down after he had been in the sea but we didn't see one. Also shop had very little in it, although there is a farm shop a mile or so away.

Local attractions

Have a look at the leaflets in Cardinney's information hut to see the best of what's nearby: sandy beaches, surfing, golf, fishing, horse riding and seaside towns and villages are all within five miles. Land's End first, of course… of all the scenic spots in Cornwall, this is among the most spectacular, and you'll probably need a couple of days at least roaming around the beaches, coves and cliffs here... Secluded Sennen Cove and its sparkling sands are a first stopoff for many, who come to soak up the sun on its sands or tackle the waves on its surf. Whitesands Beach is also well regarded for surf and joins up with the mile of beach at Gwenver where the waves are a bit stronger (all three beaches are lifeguarded in summer). On the cliffs, many suggest that one of the best Land's End occupations is just to sit and watch the waves crashing below, but if you're itching for a hike, visit the visitors' centre for a list of walks around the area, or the RSPB Wildlife Discovery Centre just below the famous Land's End signpost to find out what species you can see. In the evening, the famed open-air Minack Theatre at Porthcurno is probably one of this area's best-known manmade things, set into the cliffs and listed as one of the most spectacular theatres in the world. The season runs from May to September, but tickets are available to look around the theatre and gardens during the day. Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park is an obliging base for other much-visited Cornish attractions like National Trust houses and gardens and yet more spectacular beaches: try Godolphin at Helston, Flambards theme park, or lying on the sands at Marazion, Mousehole or along the coast at St Ives.
