What customers say

Peaceful rural spot with helpful staff & peacocks. Manor restaurant/bar a hit. But, some guests noted poor toilet/shower cleanliness & condition. Accessibility, upkeep, and perceived value were also flagged.

Liked Nice quiet site with a dozen or so pitches. Peacocks freely roaming around.

Disliked The toilet block was awful.
Black mould on the walls and doors. Didn’t even bother trying the showers, left the next day and booked in somewhere else.
Express my disappointment at the hotel, the staff are friendly enough, although no one contacted me back for a refund.
Such a shame, it really doesn’t take much to maintain a toilet block.

Liked Peacocks

Disliked Unfortunately I left pretty much straight after I checked in. I wasn’t told about any facilities. Couldn’t see showers or toilet block. The only camping residents appeared to be some men in caravans who were fixing up their work van. The site looked partially like a building site. I should have complained and requested a refund as I didn’t feel safe as a female solo camper, but instead I called a site somewhere nearby and left. Although I’m sure the Manor House grounds are very nice this was not what I expected for the money I paid..

Liked Not a lot. Don't arrive on a Saturday, because if they have a wedding, all the guests cars are parked on the pitches. We were told to park where we could, which was like being in a carpark. The last straw was someone pissing between our camper and the next car, where we would have sat out, had there been enough room. We asked for our money back, and left!

Disliked Everything. The men's facilities were disgusting, and our custom was unimportant to them. I wouldn't recommend this site.

Liked A great choice for our first stopover. Very quiet, in a beautiful rural setting, with all the necessary services & amenities we needed. The bonus for us was the proximity of the manor with it's comfortable bar & excellent restaurant/carvery. All the staff there, and on the site, were so friendly and helpful and the quality of the food was outstanding.
The "free range" peacocks are an added bonus!

Disliked The rain!

Liked Trees around the site. No fuss to pitch up.

Disliked Toilet block. Womens toilets very wet floor all the time. Sign outside but clearly a problem of water leaking from somewhere. Mens toilets black mould. Didn't shower , didn't feel safe walking around in the toilets. Staff must be aware as they left a sign outside...Very outdated.
Could be a lovely site but things just left around like tyres and piles of green stuff. Large bins for rubbish on view. This was the end of the season but still charged £35..
Large pot holes at the entrance.
Quite a small compact site, described as no frills, which is true.
Need transport to get out and about. I was expecting more, website makes the site a lot nicer than it is.

Liked Amazing rural area with peacocks free to roam plenty of walks and a cosy little bar/restaurant in the manor with a great menu selection walking distance from adrenaline quarry where there is plenty of fun for all the family

Disliked Male Toilet blocks could do with modernising but they do the job

Liked Beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful just what we were looking for. Staff extremely friendly and helpful and the evening meal we had was to die for!! We even enjoyed hearing the resident peacocks in the morning, much nicer than the seagulls we're used to 😁

Local attractions

There’s masses to do around and about the campsite, with pony rides and fishing in the grounds of Great Trethew Manor Hotel, but a day out on the zipwires and go karts at Adrenalin Quarry (five minutes’ drive) is surely on the cards for the kids. Another Cornish big hitter is the Eden Project (40 minutes), where futuristic biospheres house an ever-changing landscape of flowers and plants. In less than 20 minutes, you’ll hit the spectacular Cornish coastline, where you can paddle in the sea off tiny coves and go crabbing in rockpools with the kids. Teens might like to catch a few surfing waves or take jetski safaris along the coastline. On more sedate days trips, you can feast on delicious seafood in the cute fishing village of Looe (15 minutes) or – further afield but worth the dramatic drive – stand on the southernmost tip of England at Land's End (an hour and 40 minutes).
