  • Well-maintained friendly site on the edge of Bodmin Moor
  • A 25-minute drive to Cornwall's north coast; 35 mins to Eden Project
  • Easy access from the A30; pub 15 minutes' walk away
Leave the noise of modern life behind and replace it with the gentle hum of moorland life… relaxed Cornwall site Traveller’s Rest is just on the edge of Bodmin Moor, in a rural spot where you can really slow the pace of life for a little while. The setup here is one of proper countryside peace, with plenty of space, friendly farm animals in the adjacent fields and lovely views out over your moorland surroundings (and all the way to Dartmoor on a fine day). Settle down at this peaceful site and you’ll most likely get the idea that you’re entirely immersed in rural life – but in fact, this spot is also really rather well located for getting in, getting out and heading all over to see the sights. The A30 is just over a mile away from the site, making it a doddle to get out to the rest of Cornwall – including both the north and south coastlines. Launceston is about 15 minutes’ drive away for shops and other bits and bobs, and you can walk to the local pub in about 15 minutes. Facilities on site here have been well thought out, including toilets, showers, a washing machine and communal areas where you can find the team, use the shared fridge and freezer, or just pop in for a chat and a cuppa. Owner Andy grew up around these parts so is a handy person to natter to for local tips; he and his team are always happy to help if there’s something you need during your stay (well, within reason…)

What customers say

Great wee spot – flat, clean, friendly owners with good local tips. Handy for travel and exploring. Some facilities could do with a spruce-up. Access roads are tight, better for tents/motorhomes than vans. Many'd return for a chill break.

Liked Best part is you get wifi at your pitch.
Highly pocket friendly
Host was extremely helpful and polite
Grass was cut
Land was levelled
Shower is good can be used for 1£ for 10 min
There is a washing machine at the shower can be used for 3£
Dog friendly site
Cannot hear any noise of vehicle as it is secluded from the road

Disliked 1. Toilet was a nightmare. There was one toilet block and shower at reception which was good but, they repeatedly told me that there is one toilet block near the tent, i tried going at it many times, but it was filled with cob webs and at night it would become home of uncountable full sized snails and slugs , on the walls, on the toilet seat on the floor , at the door handle. Toilet definitely needs to be taken care of by the host.

2. The location is close from the main road but on a extremely narrow lane for just 1 vehicle with twists & turns so you have to be careful. We faced a tractor on the way and had to drive reverse a long way to find a passing place

3. There is no proper place to brush your teeth or hot water at wash area. There is sink in the toilet block but unclean toilets carry smell and germs so cant be used for brushing. Only one place outside the toilet block to wash utensils but it didn't have any hot water and was under open sky so you have to wait for the rain to go away.

Liked Flat ground, can park anywhere you like
Owner is a nice guy
Quiet
Clean
Hot water for indoor shower is nice, room could do with an update I honestly think that £1 for 10 minutes shower is very generous

Disliked Not so much didn't like but needs attention;
Outside toilet needs updating
Washing area needs hot water and a plug
Could do with being under cover

Could do with hedges to protect from the wind for tents, we had our windbreakers up but it was still windy

Roads there are exceptionally tight not suited to towing a caravan but tents, motorhomes, campers would be fine.

Liked Really easy to find and close to the motorway. We arrived late at night as we decided to travel missing the bank holiday traffic.
The field was so flat so no need to adjust the van before we went to sleep.
Bathroom clean and we woke up to such peaceful surroundings.
Really recommend as a stop off sight if heading south.

Perfect stop over for one night before we started our holiday in Cornwall the next day. Very near to A 30

Disliked Although it was a lovely site the road in is very narrow so when towing a touring van is awkward. I think it is an ideal site for tents and motorhomes rather than tourer vans

Liked Wonderful little site that we will definitely revisit. I’ll admit we were dubious when we first arrived as it’s a fairly small site but we actually had plenty of space and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were welcoming, friendly and more than happy to help with everything and anything. It’s a basic site with decent amenities which is all we tend to look for and that’s what it provided. Even got freshly laid eggs off the neighbours one morning! The on-site animals entertained the kids (and the adults!) and everyone camping was respectful and friendly. WiFi signal was good and consistent, not what we go away for but it’s a necessity these days. We’ll definitely be back!

Disliked Nothing it was perfect for us.
