Welcome to worcesters

  • Low-key farm site surrounded by orchards and woodlands
  • A 10-minute drive from Canterbury; Whitstable 20 minutes
  • Fresh home-grown produce sold on site; just off the A2
The people who run Worcesters describe it as ‘a little slice of heaven’ – and if you like a combination of Kentish countryside, farm animals and fresh local produce, plus easy access to the coast, you could easily end up sharing that opinion. Worcesters is located just off the A2 road, 10 minutes’ drive outside of Canterbury and 20 minutes from the coast at Whitstable. There’s a lot of greenery around, since the site is set among old Worcester Pearmain orchards and is adjacent to an area of ancient woodland. The trees will be your friends here, whether you fancy a cool afternoon nap in a hammock under their leafy canopy, or want to teach the kids how to build a den. This is a dog-friendly site that’s home to several other animals, including free-range hens, geese and ducks. Fresh home-grown produce will be available depending on the time of year you visit, with eggs, veg and apple juice frequently in stock. For cooking, open fires and barbecues are allowed in the designated areas. Worcesters has very basic amenities, including a fresh-water standpipe, a simple composting toilet, basic washing-up facilities and an open-air shower. A washing machine may be available in your hosts’ house by arrangement.

What customers say

Relaxed, eco-friendly orchard campsite, perfect for unwinding. Praised for spacious pitches, friendly owners, and apples. Clean, basic facilities suit the 'back to basics' vibe, though some noted price for value. Handy for stopovers and Canterbury. Minor road noise mentioned.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Great campsite, which is rustic and with just the basic facilities, which is what we love. It is really convenient for a stop-over when heading to or from Calais, as it's in a rural location, but not too far off the A2. The pitches are in a lovely, spacious orchard - very pretty and nice and flat. The owner is very friendly and helpful and is developing an eco-friendly, low impact campsite, which has a very relaxed atmosphere.

Liked Great place! Very picturesque, peaceful with amazing energy. It's great to wake up to the singing of birds, looking at the apple trees with beautiful apples. Special respect to the guys who are in charge there. Very positive! It's a pity I don't know your names, but thank you! Sincerely, Alexander. Kyiv, Ukraine.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked The campsite was lovely, set within the orchard with lots of little areas so that tents could be away from each other with nice privacy and noise barriers. The set up was relaxed and happy, not a thousand rules and everyone there respected the space.

Also loved that the plot was big (10m2) and no extra charge for gazebo or awning. We travelled as a family and having to pay for all these extra bits can become quite expensive. Really nice to just allow us nice patch of space to use as we liked.

Definitely a place I would like to return.

Local attractions

A lively university city, Canterbury is home to a splendid cathedral with a rather gruesome past, having been the site of the murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170. The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge displays objects of local interest – from pilgrim metal badges and stuffed animals, to paintings and Rupert Bear annuals. Famous for its oysters, which you can sample in several of its restaurants, Whitstable is a pretty seaside town with a pebbly beach and a bustling high street lined with independent shops and eateries. Check out the crafts for sale at Harbour Market Whitstable before going on a boat trip to see the seals or the Maunsell Sea Forts, just off the coast. Fun and art have made Margate (35 minutes) a popular destination. For the former, head to Dreamland, a revamped amusement park with vintage rides and a lively programme of music concerts. If you’re after art, the Turner Contemporary and the Carl Freedman Gallery host rotating exhibitions. And then there’s Margate Sands, with a tidal swimming pool and children’s games.
