  • Small and friendly family-run site in the New Forest National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to New Forest Water Park; half an hour to the coast
  • Barbecues, wood and fuel sold on site and a pub just down the road
Whether it’s glades, moors or clifftops you've got your sights set on, walking and cycling are quite the treat in the New Forest National Park… and handily, Tom’s Field is a friendly place to start your engine, with New Forest Water Park 10 minutes’ drive away and beaches half an hour away in case you fancy a plunge down into the seaside. This is a small, family-run site, open on weekends and bank holidays only, with the family around the site most of the time so that you can count on a helping hand if you need it. The local community shop visits the site each morning to bring fresh bread and basic groceries and the site also sells wood and barbecue fuel (and hires out barbecues or fire buckets). Of course, you’ll be able to grab any extras you need from the wide range of shops in Fordingbridge, 10 minutes’ drive away. There’s wild swimming in the river Avon here, by the way, so you might want to wear your swimming gear. You won’t have to go off site to treat yourself to some forest scenery either, as the site looks over the woodlands and has access to an open heath and forest land where there are New Forest ponies and cows roaming around. If you’re searching for somewhere to be waited on, the site’s local pub is only 15 minutes’ walk away down the road. There are three more that you can get to with a little longer hike, between 45 minutes’ and an hour’s walk away.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked I really enjoyed our stay here. The provided fire pit was great and the size of the pitch was spot on. Also it was ideal being only a 5 minute walk to the pub! All the staff where very helpful and kind. The toilet block was ideally placed and kept very clean. It was great having an ice cream van pop down every evening. Although we didn't stay on a saturday night, the chance to have pizza delivered is a great idea!

This was our first camping trip and I can really recommend toms field for any first time campers!

Disliked The only thing I didnt like was the no music rule. I understand you don't want people blaring music as neither would I! But to be able to have some quiet music by the fire at night would have been the cherry on top to our perfect stay.

Safari tent

Liked We had an amazing several days at Tom’s Field. A warm welcome on arrival with everything explained. The glamping tents were great. Well equipped and it was extremely helpful to have the cool box with access to the fridge and freezer too.The toilets and showers were immaculate on arrival. There were even a few toys for the kids to play with which our five year old made great use of. The area was so peaceful and even being close to a road there was no issue with sound. We came away so relaxed and enjoyed everyone moment of our stay! The location was ideal, in amongst the new forest with plenty of wildlife but close to small towns. We hope to return soon to make more s’mores on the fire pit with the children!

Disliked Nothing that we disliked during our stay but a small set of shelves to help keep some items off the ground would have been useful but not essential.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked The camp site was well maintained and facilities were clean and good. The 2 ladies I met were very nice and helpful. Great for walks with the dog and no to far from places such as the coast, Salisbury.

Disliked I thought at £80 for 2 nights was a bit expensive for me my daughter and my dog.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked What a nice site very peaceful with great views over the valley. It was nice how everyone behave nicely sticking to the rules of the site. The ice cream and pizza vans turning up as great and a treat. The reception had more than you would have expected like public freezers, phone charges and cool block hire, nice for picnics. The toilets and showers where very clean and there was always hot water.

Disliked It is just off a main road which always had trafick going past not a game changer but one to know and there are only 2 wash stations so you need to plan your washing up apart from that a great site

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Excellent site with MASSIVE pitches and great showers and toilets located centrally within. There are 4 showers, 4 unisex lavatories plus another portacabin with a dedicated WC for Women and another for Men. These also included showers.

We were permitted to have BBQ fire pit without wood. I have camped in the New Forest before and couldn’t have any fires or BBQs, so this was a welcome change. If you do not have your own they will provide a BBQ fire pit for a small charge. As expected, disposable BBQs are not permitted.

When checking in, you’ll be provided with a map showing your pitch location and a copy of the rules for rubbish & recycling. They do have fridges people can use as well as freezer blocks to help keep your food cold.

The site was visited by an ice cream truck while we were there and there was also a food truck on Saturday night selling pizzas.

Not many rules to worry about here, with the main ones being:

- no music to be played at any time
- no noise after 23:30

Again made for a very enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Had a lovely weekend with my daughter in Tom's field. It is a very clean, quiet and relaxed campsite. The showers and toilets were very clean, and kept that way by frequent cleans throughout the day. You can charge your phone and use a freezer at reception which was very handy. We hired a firepit for the weekend which was dropped off and collected from our pitch. They have a pizza truck that visited on Saturday night, very good pizza! Short walk from a pub. You can walk all around the area, we did a bit but found the campsite so relaxing we spent a lot of time chilling and reading. Would return, would reccomend
