  • Well-maintained and quiet West Yorkshire family site in Ripponden
  • A 20-minute drive to Halifax, and 25 minutes to Hebden Bridge
  • Pubs, takeaways, supermarket and farm shop within five minutes’ walk
Chasing a bit of West Yorkshire peace and quiet, but still wanting lots to do? Riverside Glamping and Caravan Park is a clever spot to consider, as it’s in a peaceful hillside spot on the edge of Ripponden, yet still near sports fields, walking routes and cycling trails – and Leeds and Manchester are both under an hour’s drive away if you’re craving some big-city action (or looking for a quick escape from such). Tucked among the woodland and meadows, well-maintained modern facilities at the site include a communal shower block, washing-up facilities and waste disposal. You can also deal with any dirty clothes at the launderette (five minutes’ walk). Chores sorted, there's all sorts of stuff to do right next door. Play tennis and bowls, and give kids the chance to kick a ball around Mill Fold Park and Playground or watch them practise their moves at the skatepark. Ripponden (five minutes’ walk) is the springboard to walking and mountain-biking routes, and there’s coarse and fly fishing on the River Ryburn for anglers. The village is also well endowed with local supermarkets, a farm shop and a choice of Indian takeaways, pizzerias and homely pubs. Dogs are very welcome at Riverside, by the way, but please clean up after them. This is a quiet site, so you'll also be asked to keep noise levels to a minimum after 10pm.

Liked Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely clean facilities. Good pubs just a few minutes walk away. Other campers seemed friendly, their caravans obviously dont move from the site. There's a little coop that has everything you need 7 minutes walk from the site. I'd stay here again.

Disliked The chippy was shut 🤣🤣

Liked It is a lovely quiet site and just a short walk to Ripponden where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Great walks along the river right next to site. Really enjoyed our 3 night stay in our tent and the weather was sunny all weekend.

Liked Fab little camp site with good size pitches, everyone was so friendly.
We stayed two nights Thursday been quieter of the two, Friday more busy and noisier.
Nice walk into Ripponden and a good base for exploring the local area.
Would definitely go back mid week rather then a weekend.

Disliked We were next to the facilities, which was good on the first night but not so on the 2nd as the site was full and there where more comings and goings, even someone washing pots just before midnight! Nothing to do with site though just some people don't have a lot of consideration for others.
Like other reviews said, bit awkward to find and only two shower/ toilet units (that where clean and well maintained) which could be a issue but wasn't really a for us.

Liked Owner, realising I’d booked a backpacking pitch by mistake gave us a tent pitch where we could park. He was really understanding.

Unpowered grass tent site (woodland, backpacker)

Liked The owner was really friendly and let us use his campfire and stay an extra hour because our grandad was late. He was funny and helpful. The pitch was in the wilderness and we felt like bear grills. The toilet were also really clean and nice and the campsite was close to other activities and the pub and co op. Also really nice scenery and walks nearby plus river 👍

Cyclists are just as well catered for, so try the looped trails on rugged moorland or head up to Hebden Bridge (25 minutes) and follow the towpath along Rochdale Canal for gentle family bike rides. Keep the kids entertained with immersive experiments and themed activities Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax (20 minutes), or spend some time browsing unusual boutiques at the monumental 18th-century Piece Hall – it’s also a lively centre for concerts and seasonal events so check to see what’s on before you go.
