What customers say

Swallow Hall: peaceful, well-kept site with great loos & showers. Friendly staff, handy for York park & ride. A few reviewers noted limited WiFi, dining options, and just two showers.

Liked A very nice well maintained site, mature hedges and trees between pitches. Clear instructions for checking in sent in advance. Dog walk from the site in adjacent woods was great. Easy access - no narrow lanes! Countryside feel but very close to York.

Disliked Not dislikes but just for information: You would definitely need a long cable for EHU for some pitches (this is in the details for the site but don’t hedge your bets!). The facilities aren’t that spacious so could be a problem if the site was busier.

Liked The site was quiet, private and very well maintained. Friendly owners and clean, modern toilets and showers.
Easy access to York city centre as well via the bus. Walkable to Pool Bridge Farm swimming ponds as well (about 25 mins).

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Lovely site, in a peaceful setting. Staff were friendly and checked that everything was ok. Plenty of space between pitches. Shower and toilet block well maintained and clean. Bonus to have the walk into the forest.

Disliked We stopped at the Roost for a drink after our walk, we chose a table outside on the artificial grass as we have a dog and were immediately told that dogs are only allowed to sit on the patio. The patio has two tables both of which were full. We were told we can go for a walk and come back! Needless to say we didn’t bother! The site is dog friendly yet the bar/restaurant isn’t accommodating which was disappointing.

Liked It was our first stay at Swallow Hall, it certainly won't be our last. Owners were so friendly and helpful. Very spacious pitches . Toilet/shower block really nice too. The Clubhouse a short stroll from site, which also serves food. We didn't sample this time but looked amazing. Closest Village a bit of a walk (50 minutes) but wasn't too bad as it was a lovely day .

Liked Lovely peaceful site, spacious pitches with really clean facilities.

Disliked No WiFi onsite. WiFi only available in the onsite restaurant. Some would argue this is not a bad thing, but we use this for the TV.

Liked The campsite itself was lovely spacious and quiet, the only phone signal we got was from my phone which was on EE and enough to stream via my hotspot to my firestick which was nice, tv signal was good so no problems, we loved the fact it was part of the golf course and the drive into the site was lovely , the area suited us to use as a base to explore what North Yorkshire has to offer , there’s no club house or reception so to speak of just pick your pitch when you arrive which I really liked.

Disliked The only thing that lets this site down is the onsite bar called the roost , I must say from the get go when we went in there to have a drink maybe socialise we were treated as if we were not welcome , we was definitely not , the lady behind the bar is not a credit to the place and should not be customer facing , unfriendly and a tad rude in my opinion, we had a dog with us and was told quite rudely that it had to go on the small patio outback which we did , but they didn’t even move the rope barricade at the back so my partner had to climb under it we tried the roost a second time to see if it was a once off it definitely was not again the same attitude, which surprised me seeing as we spent eleven pounds on two pints of cider , definitely not club prices ! We spoke to other visitors both had been coming for 20 years or so they told us they never go in there because of this , apparently the roost is not run by the owners of swallow hall it’s a separate entity so that probably explains a lot of things , but take it from us they certainly did not want us campers in there.
