What customers say

Awesome, tidy spot with plenty of room, great amenities, and friendly staff. Handy village location with local shops and pubs nearby. Most folks loved it, though Wi-Fi could be better and a spare chemical toilet waste point would be handy.

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked Clean and quiet site.

Disliked Didn't see 1 member of staff. Shop and reception is only open 1.5 hrs on a morning and for 1hr a few evenings a week. Site details say every pitch has WiFi - we were very disappointed as this was the reason we booked this site as I had work to do but the 99% of the time we had no connection. It's expensive to stay for what you get.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and for highlighting that you found the site clean and peaceful – we’re pleased you enjoyed those aspects of your stay.

We were surprised to read your comment about not seeing any staff, as we live on site and are here 24/7 throughout the season. Our shop/reception is open each morning and on selected evenings, and a member of your party did visit the shop during your stay (Charcoal for the BBQ). Outside of those hours, guests are always welcome to reach us on the number provided in the welcome pack, or simply by speaking to us around the park while we’re maintaining the grounds, cleaning facilities or preparing caravans.

Regarding WiFi, we do ask guests to let us know straight away if they have difficulty connecting, as this gives us the opportunity to look into it there and then. The system generally works well, but like any service it can sometimes need adjusting, and we’re always happy to help when made aware.

In terms of value for money, we do regularly review our tariffs and offer discounted stays at certain times of year – including the rate you received. We aim to provide a fair price for the facilities and services we offer, and we’re sorry if this wasn’t your impression.

We do take feedback seriously and will continue working to ensure guests know how to contact us easily during their stay.

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked Lovely site with large fully serviced level pitches. A little shop selling essentials and treats like ice cream and wine 😋
The facilities were very clean as was the laundry room. Lots of trees and wild life even heard owls. It is a family friendly site with a nice play park so it did get busier on the weekend. Owners were very friendly and helpful and we found it good value for money.

Disliked We found the WiFi, 4G and 5G dropped out quite a lot it didn’t bother us and not the sites fault

We’re delighted you enjoyed the spacious fully serviced pitches, the facilities, and the little extras in our shop — and it’s lovely to hear you appreciated the trees, wildlife, and even the owls! We’re also pleased you found the park family friendly and good value. Thank you for mentioning the WiFi signal too — as you say, it can sometimes vary due to location, but we’re glad it didn’t affect your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Liked Liked the contactless check-in

Walk to the village and pub only took 10 minutes great pizzas and great beer gardens

Disliked Could not put my drive away awning as you can’t put a waning on grass but it was ok
Wi-Fi not very good , site need to put a extender where the motor homes park

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the contactless check-in, our clean and tidy facilities, and the short walk to the village with its great pizzas and beer garden. While there is plenty of space on the gravel for a drive-away awning, we understand that you preferred not to use it.

We appreciate your feedback about the Wi-Fi and will keep it in mind as we continue to improve the site.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Local attractions

This is an excellent base from which to explore the lush landscapes of Yorkshire, from the Wolds to the Moors; it’s also easy to get to the Yorkshire coastline and the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, all with lots to see and do. For ramblers and cyclists, the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way both pass nearby, and there's diverse territory to explore, from wild moorland to dense forest, with plenty of lovely villages (and excellent pubs) in between. Harry Potter fans and locomotive lovers can have a trip aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which chuffs its way across 18 miles of scenery and includes a stop at Goathland, the terminus for the Hogwarts Express. A 15-mile drive away is the ancient city of York, where visitors can walk around the city walls, be humbled by the majesty of the Minster, or take in one of the myriad museums and attractions. The National Railway Museum and Castle Museum are both highly recommended, and bloodthirsty bairns will enjoy York Dungeons and the growling Vikings in the reconstructions at the brilliant Jorvik Viking Centre. The streets are jampacked with tearooms, restaurants, bars and interesting independent shops: try Stonegate, Swinegate and the medieval Shambles for the best of the shopping. Castle Howard is very close by: take in the 18th-century architecture and interiors, roam around the gardens, woods and lakes, and keep the kids amused with a boat trip or a romp around the adventure playground. The packed events programme includes regular arts, crafts and produce markets, concerts and themed weekends. Also nearby are the Eden Camp World War II museum, Flamingoland adventure park and zoo, Dalby Forest and the treetop adventures of Go Ape.
