  • Well-maintained quiet family park close to Scarborough town centre
  • Excellently set for days at Whitby, Pickering, Filey or Bridlington
  • Shop, launderette, two play areas and games room
How do you fancy a family hol in a family-run park near smashing Scarborough – but in a serene and sheltered setting surrounded by woodland and wide open North Yorkshire countryside? Giddy up to Jacobs Mount Caravan Park, on the edge of the Forge Valley Woods National Nature Reserve but only two miles from the town centre and beaches of North Yorkshire's seaside capital. It's within easy trotting distance of other county attractions like Whitby, Pickering, Filey or Bridlington if your tastes tend to towns… and the North York Moors, hiking and biking routes, Dalby Forest, steamy vintage railways and a whole heap more if you're more of a countryside connoisseur. Although it's a quiet family park, Jacobs Mount is well set up with facilities including two play areas and a games room. Barbecues are allowed and a shop is on site for essentials. Amenities are well covered here too, with heated shower blocks, disabled facilities, a launderette, a washing-up area and a parent and baby washroom.

Local attractions

Splendid seaside days are easily had at Scarborough, two miles from Jacobs Mount Caravan Park and home to the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary, the Rotunda Museum and the North Cliff and South Cliff golf clubs alongside its two beaches (shore fishing from here is rightly recommended too). Also rightly recommended in the area are days at Filey for birdwatching at Filey Brigg, Bridlington for the RSPB reserve Bempton Cliffs, and Whitby for abbey, fish and chips and Goths lurking gloomily among the churchyard tombstones. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts at Filey for those who fancy a hike or an amble. As it's North Yorkshire, history is all around too: potter along to the historic highlights of the Cleveland Way like Whitby Abbey, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey, or have a city day out in York to see its magnif minster, the Jorvik Viking Museum and many tiny cobbled streets.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Woodland walk for dogs. Close proximity to showers etc

Disliked: Our pitch would have been perfect for the hot summer but the shade of the trees made our pitch cold in October as the lovely autumn sunshine couldn’t get through

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Nice clean site with everything o the pitch.

Disliked: Not happy on arrival to be told that the manager decided to close the club house and go away on holiday as he was tired, I thought we would have recieved a text just informing us it would be closed as it should have been open until 30/10/2022.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, The club house was not closed due to the manager being tired but through a family matter. As a park, the club house is not advertised anywhere so should not be taken as available on site nor open all season.

Would stay again, nice family run site and polite.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: The site was lovey and quiet even though there were plenty of kids enjoying themselves. Great facilities in terms of the park for my 3 year old. Was able to let her play on her scooter while not worrying. Nice food and beer on the club house.

Disliked: Wasn’t a fan of tokens for showering etc. but we worked around that.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Good security and park well maintained.

Disliked: I was allocated to a smaller fully serviced pitch despite having a large twin axle caravan. I asked to move and I was given an alternative. The park knew we were staying with friends and despite the park being relatively empty with lots of space around us, they were placed well apart from us. We are all over 55s.
Poor public transport link as bus stop miles away so a 3 mile walk to Scarborough.
The electric card system was a bit confusing and I felt we were really careful with use however we used £37.70 over 9 days so not bad as the site was reasonably priced.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Cleanliness & Hot water

Disliked: Rules & Regulations. Cant leave before 8am & have to be back by 11pm. Electric & showers cost extra. Site full of empty caravans made it feel like a caravan graveyard. Booked for two nights only stayed one.
