Grass pitches

  • Well-maintained pitches behind a friendly rural pub in Yedingham
  • Castle Howard, Flamingo Land and beaches within a half-hour drive
  • Beer garden, playground, river fishing and home-cooked meals
Pitching up by a pub – that’s always a fine idea. Settle in for a tasty dinner, and as many drinks as you wish, then simply stroll across the garden to get to your bed without any worries over who’s going to drive. And it’s an even finer idea if the pub in question is a cosy, friendly place like the Providence Inn in the village of Yedingham, around a 15-minute drive from Malton. There’s a cheery Yorkshire welcome for all guests here, be they families, groups, couples or single travellers – the folk on site just request that all visitors respect each other (and the neighbours) by keeping the hubbub down after midnight. (Please do note that there is likely to be a bit of noise from the pub/beer garden in the evenings though – such is the way with pubs…) Life here is pretty relaxed and informal – guests can pick their pitches, and are welcome to light up barbecues or build fires in firepits (as long as they're kept off the grass). Along with basic bathroom facilities (cleaned twice daily), there’s access to the River Derwent for those who’ve brought along a fishing licence and asked permission. Pike are the most likely catch, but there have been sightings of other slippery species around here too. And so to dinner… home-cooked food is served seven days a week in the pub (you're advised to book in advance for meals, and take note that on Sundays, the kitchen closes at 5pm), and it gets a thumbs up from the locals, who have been known to drive a considerable number of miles to get their dinner here. There’s a good-sized beer garden for alfresco drinks on fine days, and a generous play area to keep kids entertained while the grownups nurse their drinks nearby.

Please note
  • The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dog Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Please note electric pitches are adjoining the pub beer garden so there will be some noise during opening hours.

What customers say

Great spot! Friendly campsite with a busy pub serving tasty, well-priced grub. Spacious pitches, fun play area for kids. Facilities are a bit basic, but the relaxed vibe and handy location make up for it. Pub noise can sometimes be a bother.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Lovely site, nice scenic views and we saw some wildlife such as a swan and weasel near the river that runs along the end of the site. The pub was nice and friendly with a nice children’s park.
We appreciated being on the quieter side of the site (non electric pitch)as the electric pitches were closer to the pub and it was busier there.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities were basic and were not clean.

Liked Great to be next to the pub. Facilities always clean and staff very friendly. This is an excellent place to bring a dog.

Disliked On the Friday night there was a very inconsiderate group who played loud music, had their car headlights on, and shouted and swore until 1am. They were gone later the next day so hopefully it was the site owner asked them to leave.

Very nice area to rest your head for the evening. Will be back again.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked The facilities were pretty good a nice private shower and w.c. area with adjoining washing up area. Just beyond that a nice little play area for the little ones which backed onto a beer garden with loverly views of the countryside.

Disliked Showers were a little disrespected by some campers leaving dirty underwear on the floor. Other than that pretty pleasant.
